2 Corinthians 4:2, "But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God."

2 Corinthians 4:7, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

1 Thessalonians 1:5-, "For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.  And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.   "

1 Thessalonians 2:13, "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe."

2 Timothy 2:15-21, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.  And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.  But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work."

2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

Also read Hebrew 13 (emphasis: verses 7-17)

AFTER reading all of the scriptures, what is your answer - are you taught by man or by the Holy Ghost?

Greetigns my brother may I come on in here?

I think this subject is interesting and I trust i'm not intruding in anyway. Please add me as a friend and connect on abc preachers here. thankyou!

When Peter talked to the Jews it was after Calvary, when salvation was now made available to all. As you know Acts is the book of the church, nota book of the Jews and it tells us how the gospel went to Jerusalem first and then to all the world just as Jesus had said, first to Jerusalem and to the Jew first.

The Jews came into the church and experienced salvation in Acts 2:38, They cried "what must we do?" They repented were baptisedin Jesus name and recieved the Holy Ghost and were considered "added to the church" (Acts 2:47) so this was an event that brought them out of sin and into the church!

Salvation had come to the Jews!

The same message was given in Acts 10 where we see salvation coming to the Gentiles. So if the Gentiles had the same gospel preached to them as the Jews and they too repented and were baptised an recieved the Holy Ghost then the gospel given to the Jews was the gospel for everybody?

The apostles fulfilled Jesus command, "a man must be born of water and spirit" John 3:5 Acts 2 nd Acts 10 is where folks were born of water and spirit

Man as you know must be born of water and Spirit that's why the gospel in Acts is for everybody. And what power it has too!

My friend go preach this gospel it will shake you city and awake the church, for it is the gospel with power.

Regards my brother and thanks for allowing me to join in here.

Paul.

Brother Paul:

With all due respect I must disagree with your post. I do so for two main reasons!

One ACTS 2:38 is in no way the fulfillment of John 3:5 and to teach that is bad hermeneutics at best. If you are teaching this; I must say that you are using eisegesis (reading into) and not exegesis (reading out of) of the Biblical text. There is way you can come to that understanding from reading the Book of John and then Acts. It does not following the plain reading of the passage itself. Let’s look at John 3. In fact the word light is used 23 times by John and the word darkness is used 7 times and the word night is used 6 times. As I said it is a major theme of the book.

The first thing you need to know about the Book of John is that one of its major themes is light and darkness. This is played out in the first chapter till the end.  In Chapter 3 we see a meeting taking place. The question one must ask is when does it happen? The writer informs us it was at night!

Jn3:1-2 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."

Why does he come to Jesus at night you ask “SO HE IS NOT SEEN! Now this is the part that I think you missed. Once you read chapter 3 you move to chapter 4 and the opening of that passage states that it is now morning meaning (light).

Jn 4:5-6 So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph; 6 and Jacob's well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

So you see the text flows with this theme.

The second reason I disagree with you is that you missed the meaning of the word generation in my post. It is not I that is saying that this generation will fall it is the Lord himself. As I stated before; Jesus offers the Jewish leadership the Kingdom (Mat. 11:25-30). They the Jewish leadership reject him and the offer of the kingdom (Mat. 12:8-15) again this is what I call the (GREAT REJECTION). It is made worse in (Mat. 27:25) what Pilate seeks to release Jesus the Jewish leadership and now all the people say “His blood shall be on us and on our children. Again this now become the background for chapter 2 in Acts and Peter’s sermon is to the Jews that; 50 days before killed their Messiah.

So is salvation for all YES. But the context of ACTS 2:38 is not a fulfillment of John 3:5.

So to tell Brother Carey to keep preaching Acts 2:38 as if it is being used in context is right but to tell him to preach it out of context as you just have is not right.

Blessing! Pas-Sweet

The name "Christian" is a widely misused term that has lost its since of meaning, value and worth.  Everybody is a Christian today.  Perversion through social acceptance.  Seminary teaches "carnal or soulish Christian" which does not operate with the power of the Holy Spirit.  1 Corinthians 3:1, "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [even] as unto babes in Christ."

Pastor Sweet,

This is not just for you.  Since you did not understand my question I thought I would place this reply and comment together...

Okay, let me give an example for an understanding of my question.

As a new babe in Christ, I have been baptized by water.  I have not yet received the Holy Ghost - I am not speaking in tongues, nor another language in my prayer life.  I am from a paradigm of only trusting the streets from whence I came.  I can only trust what I hear because I don't know what it's like "to be filled with" or "to be baptized with" something I cannot feel (touch, see, taste, hear, smell).  Does the teacher tell the babe in Christ that they are being taught by the Holy Ghost or does the teacher tell the babe that they are being taught by the educational background of the teacher from ?'s Cemetary (oops, Seminary)?

Also, in 2 Corinthians 3:4-6, "And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers (one who executes the commands of another, esp. of a master, a servant, attendant) of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."  This scripture says to me, by the guidance of the Holy Ghost, that the letter is all well and fine, however, the spirit "trumps" the letter in the trust that we have through Jesus the Christ toward God.  John 10:10 states Jesus saying, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it (life) more abundantly."  Jesus sent the "Comforter" to give us life...

I have heard preachers over and over say that the devil, the prince of the air, takes the Word we just heard in the House of God and either steals it completely or distorts it.  By the time we get to the parking lot or come from meetings after church, we have forgotten what the Preacher said.  And yet, we are not taught that the Word from God should be studied and applied to our lives at least for the next week.

Now, I'm not sure that this is "educationally gratifying" to those who have capital letters behind their names, but what I am sure of is that this Word I have written came from the guidance of the Holy Ghost.  You know why? Because I prayed that He, the Holy Ghost, my Comforter, my Teacher, My Guide, would give me the truth...

This is amazing! Your non-grasp of such a key doctrine of the church shines through. First the only reason I did not understand your question is once a person becomes a believer they receive the Holy Spirit. The fact is that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer:

Gal 3:14 in order that ain Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might 1come to the Gentiles, so that we bwould receive cthe promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 4:6 Because you are sons, aGod has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "bAbba! Father!"

Ro 8:9 However, you are not ain the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God bdwells in you. But cif anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

Also he does this their entire throughout life

Jn 14:16 "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

Also know that the Holy Spirit seals the believer in Christ.

Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is 1agiven as a pledge of bour inheritance, with a view to the credemption of dGod's own possession, eto the praise of His glory.

Eph 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

So you say “As a new babe in Christ, I have been baptized by water.

Based on my above writing I hope you understand that every believer has the Holy Spirit at the point of conversion and not every believer speaks in tongues. By the way you don’t as well even if you think that you do! (Sorry that my soap box for the day) Yet the true sign of one being a believer is not gifts from under the tree it is the fruit off the tree.

Now to John 10:10 one of the most missed quoted and missed understood passages in all the book of John. I know you are going to have a cow when I type this but it is true….when “Jesus says that He comes to give life and life more abundantly Jesus is talking about salvation and any of the stuff of this world.” That is the context of the chapter.

Also it still amazes me how you and others like you can put down fellow believers because they have seminary education, yet your false teachers claim that the have the same and have in many cases never seen the inside of a school. TD Jakes, Frederick Price, Paula White, Juanita Bynum and the list goes on and yet a smart woman like yourself takes what they teach and says that’s God man or woman yet myself and others like me are studying in the cemetery. This is to funny indeed!

Pastor Sweet, your comments: "Your non-grasp of such a key doctrine of the church shines through."  "By the way you don’t as well even if you think that you do!"  "I know you are going to have a cow when I type this but it is true…."

"Also it still amazes me how you and others like you can put down fellow believers because they have seminary education, yet your false teachers claim that the have the same and have in many cases never seen the inside of a school. I'm glad that a student like me can make you laugh.  Others who don't have the zeal for learning may have taken your comments as insulting (I would have at an earlier part of my walk with Christ).  However, my opinion about your teaching methods is that the insults or the "beneath me" writings you consistently portray in your comments are disheartening to the "babes" and even some of the learned.  Everyone who reads this is not on your level and some who have read your previous comments have asked questions regarding the "how" you are saying it.  As teachers, we are to reach ALL not just those who are educated like us.   "The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned." Isaiah 50:4  "But I thank God that He will help me and I shall not be confounded: therefore I will set my face like a flint, and know that I shall not be ashamed.  It is God that is near and will justify me; who will contend with me?  let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me...." Isaiah 50:7-8

I truly thank you for your knowledge and understanding of the scriptures and the compliments, Pastor Sweet.  I will continue to pray for you to hear God and be lead by the Holy Ghost is your writings and comments.  Peace and blessings...

Wow!!!!!!!!!

This is what I mean by funny. You all get to say anything in any way you all like, (educational background of the teacher from ?'s Cemetary (oops, Seminary)?) yet when I come back with a bit of sarcasm of my own that is when it is out of order.

My dear Sister:

You can’t have it both ways you can’t use sarcasm and then become hurt when it is used back at you! You and poor believers like you come at some of us that are educated on this site/network with cuts and bitterness; and when I use your very same method you cry foul…..

I come to people the way they come to me! You all say that you know the Bible and so I comes at you based on those words, if I disagree with your interpretation based on my own reading of Scripture; and point out how you all have missed interpreted the text, I have evry right to so! I stay away form the more technical terms because I have been told before that I am showing off what I know in order to put others down! So if you are going to use sarcasm in your post than YOU OPEN YOUR SELF UP FOR ITS USE BY OTHERS.

As for “everyone who reads this is not on your level; than stop coming and presenting yourselves as though you are. I mean if you don’t know the Bible do not put down the ones that spend their time (in some cases 3 to 4 years for a master’s degree, not to mention undergrad which takes 4 years then 5to 7 years for PhD or DMin degrees).

You say that you are educated and that we are called to reach all, and I agree with that yet this is not the point of this site; I thought it was to engage in fellowship and robust debate on the topics stated above. If that is not true that I am sorry!

You speak of babes; it is the job of the pastor/teacher/elder to defend the faith form false teachers. I do so for the babes, because they are not spiritual aware to know that the greatest harm to the Church is not found on the outside but has always come from within (Jude)

Pastor Sweet,

You state, "I come to people the way they come to me!"  Matthew 5:46, "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?"

Matthew 5:47, "And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so?"

I believe as a Pastor that you are called to get down off your horse and walk with the people.  If God has placed you above other people than you are required to tarry with them.

Acts 9:43, "And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner."

Again I fine this amazing!

Brother you have called Dr. Watson and Me; Pharisees and teachers of the law!

You have called us everything but a child of the Most High God, and now I should take the high road and walk with the people! Okay I will do this, if you would please answer this for me. “Why is it okay for you all to insult us, call us names and make fun of our education, yet I use a little sarcasm; (Jesus and Paul used more than I did yesterday) you all want me to feel bad as if I not a Christian.  Read the parables of accusation in Matthew, then answer that one for me.

Watson and you are the only so called ministers who put yourselves above other people here on BPN.  You don't see other people who have been to seminary carry on the way that you and Watson carry on.

I have not heard Watson or yourself deny that you are modern day Sadducees and or teachers of the law.  You both deny revelation from the word of God.  You should not have a problem with these titles.

I am wrong to carry on with Watson although sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.  I think there is a difference when you have discord with almost everybody who dialogues on BPN.  You keep saying, "You all."

Okay I admit that I am a Bible reading, teaching Pastor, and that is all I admit too. Yes I have earned a real degree from a Bible College, yes I am in seminary purposing a real master's degree, Yes once complete I will earn a real Ph.D.

I say all this because of all the people on this site that say that they have earn degrees and call themselves Dr. this or Dr. that only to find that the schools are in the basement of a church or someone’s house. I understand that all schools start somewhere and all are not be accredited at this time soon schools I know are working on this and others I know have rejected this for different reasons.

I have pointed out on errors in some of your interpretations of scripture and that causes problems for you I don’t ask for forgiveness. I ask you to reread the Bible in light of what I write.

We can call it what you like, if you teach the prosperity gospel than you are a false teacher...like I.V. Hillard, TD Jakes (a oneness pentecostal) and many others

I stand for the historical Christian faith and that is all...I am sorry if I have hurt any persons on this site, that is not my intent, yet I do understand that as a Pastor and defender of truth my passion and zeal will be missed understood from time to time and I am okay with that.

“Here I stand I can do nothing else.”

Maybe if God allows you to go to Africa, Iraq or India and start a school for underprivileged children, this might humble you.  Go to a communist country and see how people study the word of God.  Maybe not since they are not accredited.
