Is God pleased when we use the gifts (or talent) He gives us for our own glory?

In light of MJ dying and his career being thrust back into the front of our eyes it made me think. As talented as MJ was as well as other singers, rappers, actors, and athelets was and is God pleased with the way they choose to use what was given to them? Sure MJ made great music that appealed to our flesh, but lets be real it did not edify our spiritman. So my question is as it is stated above Is God pleased?

Eric,

Songs such as "heal the world", "will you be there", "earth song", "we are the world", by MJ, edifies the Kingdom of Yehwah.. Humans being there for each other is what Yehwah wants of us. it is apart of his kingdom.
James,

Can "heal the world" be what God wants when they dont explain or lead you to the one who does the healing? Can a song be a "love" song when the one singing doesnt know Love if they dont know Jesus? But really those are side questions with your response are you saying that God is pleased?
Eric,

Heal the world was a song about curing world hunger, and showing love to one's fellow man. Its my opinion that just because Yeshuah was not mentioned in the song, the song had the ability to unite people together. Songs, acting, etc, does not always have to be "religion." It can something truly positive, and that positiveness can be pull people together to do a greater good. It is kingdom work to do things such as these. You won't agree, but that's how I see it.
Not really posing the question for a agree/disagree argument I asked was God pleased? That's all. And No things dont always have to be "religious" but they should always point to a relationship should they not?
Rev,

Again, Its my opinion that nothing was wrong with Jackson making those kinds of songs. Was Yehwah pleased. I'd say sure, in the sense that there's a man out there that wants to unite mankind to love one another. If they do not point to a relationship with Yehwah, then that does not cause me to condemn their songs. their songs unite people, and it does not always have to mention the bible, or anything religious.
Okay,

Question on a side note.

Which senario in your eyes would not be pleasing to the Father:

1. If a christian singing group goes and does a song like "we are the world"?

or

2. When a singer (I wont mention any names) does a song like "you saved me" but then goes back and continues singing about "sex, drugs, and alcohol"?

P.S.- You said "in the sense that there's a man out there that wants to unite mankind to love one another."

Is there a sense then that he would not be?
Rev,

We all know R. Kelley's songs. Some of his songs are alright to me. And, some of his songs are not so good at all. #2, of course, would be the crazy one. Also, R. Kelley does not promote drugs in his songs.
That's why I didnt mention any names because I knew you isolate the example to one individual. That was not the point of the examples. And why was number to the crazy one? And also I asked which one woud not be plaesing to the Father?

P.S.- I've heard about Mr. Kelly talking about smoking weed in his music. But if he didnt he surely has allowed guest stars on songs to.
Rev,

What about the song of solomon, with explicit references to breast, and making love. What about the sexual imagery in his book? Makes you wonder why Hebrews boys could not read that book til they were 12. Is solomon's books pleasing to Yehwah?
Yes! I would say He is pleased with it. Understanding that Nowhere in the book does it speak to extramarital affairs, or things like that. Sex is not something one should be ashamed to talk about in its proper context. Enjoying sex in its intented state is what should always be pointed out. But lets not get to far away from the question that was asked to you. And by the way how do you feel about the SOS?
Rev,

The what?
Song of Solomon (SOS)
