Leave the Milk for Babies

Pastors and teachers have to take the church from MILK to MEAT, I would be horrified to see an adult wearing a diaper in church, but spiritually many saints are wearing diapers in the house of God. The reason we treat our pastors like gods is that we are babies and we are letting them carry us like babies! They should be taking us from milk to MEAT! We have to grow up so we can assist in the ministry and stop being a burden to the church. So many pastors quit because of burnout, but most of the time it is their fault! Imagine a woman trying to care for 20 to 30 babies at one time; she would eventually crack under pressure! We have to GROW UP SPIRITUALLY! We have to pray and study 7 days a week, not just on Sunday in the presence of your pastor. Martin Luther was a great man but we need MORE men and women like him today! Men and women committed to the truth of scripture over tradition, hype, and fluff! I leave this scary verse with you to meditate on.

I agree however WE created the monster (Whoopers) a lot of people in the black church feel that you are not "anointed" unless you whoop, I do NOT get very many invitations to preach because I am labeled a "teacher", like it is a bad thing (smile)

It is so true, but what a sad indictment. The whoopers actually say nothing at all, and they say it far too loudly. Whooping certainly appeals to the flesh, people leave church with the feel good factor, rather than spiritually fat and full. Having said that, I do think that there is a time when whooping can be constructive, particularly if used for speaking of the wonders and amazing attributes of our Lord. There must be a balance though.

Ah, I now see your point, and you will have to forgive me, where I am from England I do not fully appreciate the dynamics of American churches.

My experience stems only from what is televised, and to be frank, I am thankful that I have the additional benefit of being able to use the off button!

No we don't really have too much whooping here, there is a little going on in what could be called the larger (350+) more charsmatic churches, but they are in the cities. You will never find whooping within conservative evangelical circles..the thought of whooping at the Keswick Convention...LOL

I don't blame you for wanting to go to Oxford, along with Cambridge, they are regarded as the epitome of academic excellence within England, and both are world leading universities in research. Cambridge has the higest number of Nobel prize winners that any other uni.

whoopin WILL get you paid in the church world, I have seen huge offerings raised for some screaming that had no substance, but the preacher got the folks "happy" and convinced them the "Lawd" told him that there were 50 people with $50.00 in the room! E-ta-da bo shaonda!!!!!

So you would say yeah? If it is this brother is preaching through the whoop! And if that is the case the problem aint with whoopers the problem is with the "preachers" who abuse the whoop, dont study, and try to dazzle the people with the whoop and think they get off for no substance. The whoop should be the celebration of a Holy Spirit filled message.

I agree but MOST whoopers are Biblically Illiterate! I am not a whooper but I use humor and props sometime to help those with short attention spans.

Mark I think this is an example of what your talking about, this is obviously a product of what he sees and so he copy's and thinks he's preaching becasue of the reaction of the crowd.

But I must admitt God is using this young man (not to say he's not using the other one) but this young fella is recieving some good training.
