Yahweh is the sole Ancient Near Eastern god of Israel; the god found in the Hebrew Bible. The spelling of "Yahweh", itself, is a conventional rendering of the Tetragrammaton (יהוה) into English by a general scholarly consensus. Yahweh is portrayed as the creator of the heavens and the earth, and of all living things; who has a non-direct, or direct personal relationship with his creation; and has been portrayed in anthropomorphic terms, as well as having no form at all. The worship of this god gave rise to three major world religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
(Yahweh) William Gesenius's proposed Hebrew vocalization of YHWH [1]
According to the Bible, Yahweh is the one true God[2] who delivered Israel from Egypt and gave the Ten Commandments.[3] Yahweh revealed himself to Israel as a jealous God who would not permit his people to make idols or follow gods of other nations,[4] nor worship gods known by other names.[5]Tags:
