Why do we have revivals at our churches and don't invite anyone? Are we on spiritual life support? Do WE need reviving? OR are we just trying raise some money and calling it a "revival", Come on church, let's keep it real...souls are NOT our priority anymore!

I got saved at a revival!
In some churches, revival means the same thing as conference. Making 'MO MONEY'. However, this wasn't always the case. I too remember when revivals meant, breakthrough and souls being saved. We used to have tent revivals throughout the summer when we lived in Michigan and I witnessed soooooo many people coming to Christ. We saw healings, folks slain in the spirit, deliverance and the power of God greatly.

I do believe that some churches still operate under the anointing and the care for souls, however, they are becoming the minority as the drive for gospel fame and fortune takes over the minds of many Church leaders.
I agree years ago revivals were for the primary purpose of winning souls, but all too often they have become vehicles for raising MONEY! I too was saved at a revival back in 1975 in Richmond Va, today revivalist are more fund-raisers than soul-winners and it is disgusting!
Tent revivals are great because it is oriented more towards the community and the lost instead of just entertaining folks that are ALREADY saved.
People often feel like that NOT because of the building but the way people IN THE BUILDING treat them! Sinners SHOULD feel welcome in God's house because HE DIED for them!
I can't even tell the whole story of how wonderful the experiences were. To see people walking down the block and knowing they are about to stop under the tent and pay you a visit is and awesome feeling. You know that these people are about to meet the most Amazing man ever. The greatest part however, is when everyone starts to sing the song, "Come to Jesus" and you see the unsaved flood the altars. When you see the touch of God and witness new lives being birthed into the Body you feel overwhelmed with joy.

I love to see people take off running around the tent after the Holy Ghost has moved them. Halleluyah.
We need to do these things AGAIN and AGAIN! It is time out for church as usual, I take sandwiches and bible to the homeless in the winter and we have church on the street. we need to take the Great Commision SERIOUSLY!
I agree, we need to take our commission SERIOUSLY! We use to do this with women and children shelters, where we'd take toys for the kids and hats, scarves and gloves for everyone.

Another church we attended would advertise food baskets and turkeys for Thanksgiving and when the people got there, they would be ushered into the Sanctuary where we had and awesome service. After the services were over, they would get a basket full of food.

I really believe if the people can see the church as also a place of help and refuge they will be more apt to come. They don't need to see it as a place that wants to TAKE FROM THEM.
AMEN!!!!
