- Bishop Dexter B. Lamar, nicknamed by some elder preachers of our as the"Promoter of Praise" and "God’s Lightning Bolt", is an anointed man of God who is excited about ministering to the masses in the name of Jesus Christ. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, he continually confronts the issues of God’s people by delivering life-changing messages that bring about healing and spiritual liberty in Christ Jesus.
A native of Macon, GA, Lamar grew up on the East side and attended elementary and high school there. As an undergraduate, he attended Macon State College for a short period, and then enlisted into the United States Army. A brief tour of Germany allowed him the opportunity to share the Gospel abroad and to plant seeds that would change the lives of all who heard and accepted the Word of God. Lamar’s work completed, he returned to the United States where he began a spiritual journey that was filled with challenges that served as catalysts to his spiritual growth and elevation.
Called into the ministry at age 18, Bishop Lamar did not adhere to the divine spiritual insight of the late Pastor C. J. Andrews who foretold of his calling several years before his acceptance. He found himself ignoring the voice of God and running until he found himself at the crossroads of life wondering which way he should go. In 1989, Bishop Lamar accepted his calling and divinely obtained the courage to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In retrospect, Lamar attributes his spiritual foundation to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Lamar, Sr., noble grandfathers, Mr. Jake Fowler and Mr. Henry O. Lamar, Sr., and to the infinite spiritual wisdom and guidance of his father in the ministry, the late Pastor Eugene Cabiness.
Trained in the Baptist Doctrine, Lamar had a desire for the people in Eatonton, Georgia to experience God without the constraints of denominational barriers. Aspiring to have a closer walk with God, he strove to teach and lead his flock in a manner that would cause them to desire the same. However, Bishop Lamar experienced the futileness in pasturing a congregation that was shackled by Baptist tradition and unmoved by the Word of God. Bishop Lamar heard the voice of the Lord say, "change so that elevation in Christ can come".
Bishop Lamar walked out on faith; trusting and believing God’s word would not fail, and resigned from his position as pastor. He and twenty-seven (27) members of his congregation decided it was time to listen to God’s voice, feel God’s power and walk in an anointing that would change their lives forever. In 1999, Bishop Lamar and these servants of God organized Greater High Hope Christian Center in a beauty shop on the night before Thanksgiving. As a result, God has cultivated this ministry into one of the nation’s most electrifying and fast growing ministries.

Years ago, I wrote a book titled I Will Do a New Thing in You. A local ministry asked if I would allow them to distribute the book to incarcerated women. What an honor it was!
We are offering the same opportunity to incarcerated men. We’re asking that you consider participating in this year’s publication. Write The Vision Publications (www.writethevisionpublications.com) will publish a series of books titled: Men of Great Power.
The process is simple. We ask that you type your manuscript in Word format and submit as an email attachment to info@writethevisionpublications.com. All rights to your material will remain your property.
The Manuscript submission deadline is September 30, 2011. Each manuscript should be 500 words or more. Be sure to include your contact info as you would like it to appear at the conclusion of your article.
We are not in position to offer monetarily compensation. Once the project is complete, this wonderful witnessing tool will be available for purchase at a reasonable $11.00 per copy. We encourage each author to purchase at least one copy to sow as a seed in the life of at least one incarcerated individual.
We are sure the Lord will richly bless you as together we creatively seek ways to bless His people. One thing I can promise you for sure…the book will go places where many of us may never go!

Our church ministry is soul winning “He that winneth souls is wise” – If it were not for soul winners, the other four ministries (Eph. 4:11-16) couldn’t do their job. It takes a complete working of the body, controlled by the head, to bring sons to glory. One plows the ground, another plants the seed, another digs around it and water it, while yet another cuts the weeds down and digs out their roots – but only God can do the increasing of it. I thank God for his beautiful plan of salvation. ‘O that man would praise the LORD for his wonderful works to the children of man”. The church started two years ago with my family and Pastor denis’s family but today has about 40 members.
We are in need if Christian items. I am appealing to you to kindly send my wife-giant print bible King James Version and a super giant print would be preferable due to her sight. She has much pain in reading small letter words. My mother also needs a super giant print bible. There are 12 aged mothers who are widows also in need of super giant print bibles. They are aged couples in our church very faithful. My request is for 15 super giant print bibles. Bibles are needed in English language as English is our national language. The safest means of sending bibles to Nigeria is via post office insured air mail. I was that curriers would ask for charges to collect bibles but post office is free.
