In Greek Mythology, Pandora is the first woman to ever be created and her accessory, Pandora's Box, contains all the evils of mankind. So, to "open Pandora's Box," as the saying goes, is probably not a good idea.

That legend, along with hundreds of others, has been passed down from one generation to the next until it has eventually become the "gospel truth." Unfortunately, there are many stories, traditions, old wives tales and euphemisms that mean absolutely NOTHING when you get right down to it. One such saying is that "Money is the root of all evil." It's a saying that is typically attributed to Jesus and His teaching and, while it may make sense to those who don't know their Bible, it is sorely misquoted.

Money is necessary for survival. So, for money to be THE root of all evil would leave Christians in a sinful situation. That contradicts the very nature of the One from whom all blessings flow!!!

God does give ample warning about "riches" and their ability to deceive. Our lives are designed by Him to be more than just a summation of our possessions and many fall prey to the idea that success in life can be measured by the "stuff" that they've collected. Nothing could be further from the truth. In all of their striving they'll miss the really good stuff because their loyalties will be misplaced and misdirected. Greed has blinded many Christians.....and most of them didn't even see it coming!!!!

God wants us to be "rich" in things that matter to His Kingdom, not to this world. One of the ways of doing so simply requires us to put our faith into action by being ready and willing to share all that we've been given. If we are blessed by material possessions and financial success along the way, we're free to enjoy our good fortune.

Timothy 6:10 says that "the LOVE of money is A root of all kinds of evil. Some people have left the true faith because they want to get more and more money but they have caused themselves great sorrow."

Money itself isn't inherently bad. Nor is it the sole cause of all the wickedness in this world....regardless of how the "saying" goes. It's when believers fall away from their first true love to pursue it that money becomes a tool of the devil.

To hear how these and more God given principles have elevated me to the next level in my life and can help you to get there as well.
