In these times of persistent disappointments, disillusionmnet, delays and dismay, it is almost impossible to not experience times of frustration, disgust, rebellion, and even resentment towards God (if one would dare be that transparent) because there's only so much our carnal man can handle, and we do live this life "in the flesh" a great deal of the time.No matter how learned we are in the "logos", or how profound we are in the 'Rhema", and no matter how we've "Shondoooooeeeddd!!" until our tonsils swell, preached 'em under the benches, and "two stepped" in the Holy Ghost, until we land flat on our sanctified "testimonies, or on the floor comatose, there are guaranteed times when we distance ourselves from the Lord, simply because we don't understand, or can't grasp the "WHY?" of God's will. It is certain that He is sovereign, and His ways are past understanding, and if we don't stay on our knees or prostrate on our faces, the enemy will persuade us that God is beyond "unfair", and that He's just unjust. These are those times of vulnerability, where you encounter a spiritual "fork in the road", and behind door number "one", you will either choose to "stand like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, whose leaf shall not wither", steadfast and anchored in the Lord, or behind "door number 2", you will go the way of your flesh, and find yourself outside the ark of safety, out of the will of God, from under the umbrella of His protection, and "separated" from Him, illegally! By the law of oppostion, where there's a"legal", there's also an "illegal", and as it is in the natural, so it is in the spirt. There are legal reasons that one can find themselves cut off from or separated from God. Adam, second to Lucifer, found himself, in this unfortunate situation, when he chose to lean on the arms of flesh, and take heed to a"lying wonder"!.

Adam obviously hadn't even a concept of what it would mean to be thrust from God's presence, because he had never experienced it,and there was no one else around who had ever done so either, or to warn him that he "might want to fast"!. Unfortnately, the consequences of his disobedence to the Lord cost Him exactly that fate, because his dilemma was not that he was evicted from the "garden", but rather that he could no longer walk and talk with God, and be in a state of perpetual worship and fellowship with Him! David had a revelation of what it would mean to be absent from God,and he said it best "Cast me not out of Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit away from me!" David so depended on the Ruwach, and nearness of God, that to be denied those privileges would have been worst than death to him! Spiritual death is exactly that, a "legal",according to the Covenant contract we enter into with God at the time of salvation, "separation" from God. It is one thing for God to revoke our relationship privileges with Him,,but it's another matter when we enter into an "illegal separation" from Him. There's absolutely no reason for man to ever divorce or separate himself from the Lord, Who is both Alpha and Omega, which means that from the day that we "begin" with Him, we should remain steadfast, and anchored in Him,until the "END"! Because the Lord is indelibly HOLY, He can not partner up with, or be in the presence of sin,so He has to enter into "separation" from us, when we are rebellious, and engaged in unrepentant iniquities, sins and transgressions. These are the times when He will allow us to be turned over to satan for a season , that our souls might be saved, and when He, Who will not strive with any man always, will allow us to be turned over to a reprobate mind, unable to discern God from the devil, or "good" from "evil" ! In the world's legal system, at least in this country, there was a time when a divorce was an extremely difficult thing to obtain, and concrete proof and evidence had to be provided, before it would even be considered to be granted. There was a process involved, and the couple, or spouse seeking the dissolution of the marital contract, first, had to go through a set time of "separation". Usually, couples just chose to live apart, and go on with their lives, until they either reconciled, or entered into the next phase of the dissolution. It was better for everyone,if they entered into a "legal "court filed and recognized separation" for business and other purposes, and the reason these separations were advised, was so that both parties could "retreat to their individual corners", regroup, reflect on how they arrived at this point, reflect on the good parts of their lives together, and to decide if they could reason together, and hopefully reconcile, because "family" used to mean more than anything else, so much so, that divorces were kind of hard to come by. In the case of a "legal" separation, where "just cause" was provided, a divorce was eventually granted, but only after a set amount of time, and if the couple came together under the same roof, during that time, the time separated became null and void, and they would have to start over again in the process.

This matter of broken vows and abandonded covenant meant even more to Christ, Who parallels His Church with Marriage, and Him being the Bridegroom. The Bible asks these questios on the matter of "illegal separation" WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST JESUS! In other words, if there is ANYBODY present in your life who is serving as a distraction, diversion, or a hinderance in your relationship with the Lord, they are there ILLEGAL, whether it be spouse, friend, family, or co-laborer in the Gospel. If they don't lead you into, or accompany you into prayer, or consistently say "COME ON AND PRAISE THE LORD WITH ME"!, it's just a matter of time, before you begin to fall away in these areas yourself ,and you'll find yourself having to decide "Do I "beat em" or "join "em"? The Bible further asks " Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword?" While there's no denying that all of these things are real, and they all have the potential to seriously impact and destroy our lives, they are not grounds for "divorce" from God, and if we distance ourselves from Him, change our posture of devotion and dedication, or abandon our relationship and Covenant vows with Him, we have entered into an "illegal separation"! He already promised us during our "engagement" season with Him, that if we were to "marry" Him,we would suffer persecution, and much tribulation, so we can't charge Him with breach of contract,or misleading us! What He said was, that in spite of the landmines we have to navigate, and the fact that we might become a "casualty" of the faith, at anytime, none of these things should move us to reneging in our covenant agreement to finish our course with joy,and serving Him faithfully! What He expects to hear is "For I am PERSUADED that neither DEATH nor LIFE, nor ANGELS, nor PRINCIPALITIES, nor POWERS, nor THINGS PRESENT , NOR THINGS TO COME, nor HEIGHTS, NOR ANY OTHER CREATURE, shall BE ABLE to SEPARATE us from the LOVE OF GOD, which is in Christ Jesus, our LORD! He said nothing about being "separated from "HIM", but from His "LOVE, because it's His LOVE that sustains us, draws us, and compels Him to keep on forgiving, blessing, and reconciling us! As great and terrible, if not "terrifying", these things may be, none meet the criteria for grounds for "divorce", or "legal separation",so to allow either of these conditions that come for the trying of your faith, which is more precious than gold, to cause you to turn your back on God,Who is consistently faithful and merciful, renders you no more than an infidel. God understands that when a man finds himself illegally separated from Him, that he usually isn't even aware that it's taken place, because, just as in the breach in marriage between a man and a woman, it begins gradually, usually with a falling off in intimate prayer and fellowship time, a notably tapered and diminished prayer life and worship experience, until one has less and less to say to the Lord, and they pay less and less attention to what He has to say to them. They become cold and indifferent, and desire "intimacy, less and less, until it becomes clear they'd rather be anyplace else other than with the one they entered into covenant with! " One may continue to preach "til the saints go marhcing home", and never feel anything themselves, interdcede until the doorposts spin on their hinges, and lead praise and worship util the "glory" falls, and never enter in themselves. They may cast out every single demon in the house, and still go home so bound, themselves, that they can't even weep. They don't recognize that an "illegal separation" has been instituted until they, one day, realize that "Ichabod" is hanging over their heads, and everything that God used to marvellously endorse and co-sign, so that the anointing was tangible in their lives, is now a great struggle, and they're no longer effectve, because they're laboring to provoke the glorying in their own flesh. Some of the "old school Players" from back in the day ,came to the conclusion that "it's cheaper to"keep" her", so they found a way to remain at home and in their marriage, if not for honoralble reasons, but they stayed, and some even actually recommitted to doing what THEY needed to do, or could do, to make the marriage viable and mutually satisfying. If the heathen, can reason with themselves and recognize the lack of wisdom in breaking covenant, and entering into an illegal separation, then surely, with all the Holy Ghost, dunamis Power, advanced "tongues", and gifts" we have that cause the demons to"tremble, those of the household of faith can find the same determination and committment to remain in their devoted "relationship" with the Lord, and to find a "persuasion" that "NOTHING" and "NOBODY" will ever cause them to illegally separate from Christ Jesus, the Lord!
