DEATH OF A FRIEND

(1 Chronicles 19)

Now it came to pass the King Nahash died
and his son reigned in his stead
Nahash was a friend of David’s, so David
sent messengers to say he was sorry he was dead

But the princes of the Ammon told their new
King “do you really think David is comforting you?”
He is planning to overthrow and spy out the land
so this is what you’d better do

Shave off their beards, cut off their clothes
send them away naked showing their butts
When David heard he told them to stay away
until your beards grow out so you wouldn’t be ashamed
before us

The Ammon’s begin to prepare for war so they
hired a couple thousand chariots and a king
They came to battle David and his host of mighty
men, so David had to answer this thing

So David had a plan and it included the Lord
Soon the Syrian fought against them
David’s army slew thousands so they gave up
and became servants to David and made peace
with him

…neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more (1 Chron. 19:19)
