DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GOD'S POWER WILL MATCH HIS PROMISE?
"History teaches us that what God promises, He also performs." - Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Commentary
Joshua 21:45 says - "There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass."
1 Kings 8:56 adds - "Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto His people Israel, according to all that He promised; there hath not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant."
Notice what is being said here in these two verses of Scripture.
Every good thing which the Lord had spoken to Israel came to pass. Not one word failed of all His good promises. In due time, all was accomplished - they received and possessed the land which the Lord had sworn to give to their forefathers...they entered into their God-given rest...not one of their enemies was able to withstand them...and they overcame them all.
This is recorded in the Holy Writ to the everlasting honor of God's Faithfulness as well as for the future encouragement of all those who will build their lives - with its many "twists and turns" - upon the Divine Promises.
Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown's Commentary offers this encouraging note on Joshua 21:45 - "All the promises made, whether to the people or to Joshua...had been, or were in the course of being fulfilled; and the recorded experiences of the Israelites...is a ground of hope and confidence to the people of God in every age, that all other promises made to the Church will, in due time, be accomplished."
Has God given you a promise?
Then of a surety - know this - not one word of that good promise will fail... in due time, it will come to pass...you will enjoy rest from all your enemies...the opposers that are coming against you today - very soon you will see them no more.
Doubt may arise and question - How can you be so sure?
Yes, it happened for Israel, but will God come through for you?
2 Corinthians 1:20 affirms - "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
First of all, it must be understood that "all the promises of God" come by Jesus, are made in reference to Him, and are fulfilled through Him. They have nothing to do with us. They center around Him.
Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Commentary confirms this thought - "All of God's promises concerning Christ are true and trustworthy: a Yes."
The Wycliffe Bible Commentary adds - "All of God's promises find their realization and fulfillment in Christ."
Therefore, the next time the devil comes around telling you how unworthy you are to receive your Miracle from the Lord, quote him this verse - "For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
"...in Him are yea..."
"...in Him Amen..."
"All the promises of God" are true in themselves...shall all be certainly fulfilled to those who believe in Jesus...on His part, there will be no vacillation, fickleness, or abandoning of His original intent...He is a God of truth Who cannot lie...in His promise is stored His faithfulness to His Word...His name "Amen" means true, faithful, and certain...and there is inalterable confirmation found in each word that He speaks.
Are you persuaded that He is able?
Or are you still entertaining doubts?
Abraham faced the impossible, yet he was thoroughly and entirely convinced that God would "perform" what He "promised" him. How was it so?
Romans 4:21 describes his out-and-out certainty with these words - "And being fully persuaded, that what He had promised, He was able also to perform."
His assurance or confidence of a divine intervention was built on the faithfulness and omnipotence of God. He was fully convinced that the Lord Almighty would keep His word and that He had the power to accomplish whatever He promised.
"And being fully persuaded..."
This metaphorical expression is taken from the ship that comes into the harbor with full sails. The wind may blow, the clouds may form, and the storms arise - yet the vessel breaks through all of the difficulties and makes it safely to its destination.
Abraham was this "ship" - so to speak. Neither regarding the wind nor the clouds, he ventured his all in the Divine Promise - knowing assuredly that God's Power would match His Promise - "...that what He had promised, He was able also to perform."
O Christian, are you "fully persuaded" yet?
Are you like that "ship" whose sails are fully opened by faith - not regarding the difficulties or adversities along the way?
Abraham's faith in God's faithfulness and omnipotence was strong. He wasn't wishfully hoping. He was fully convinced that the Lord was able to do what He promised.
How about you, O Reader?
Are you simply wishing for better days or are you convinced of it - based on God's ability to do what He said He would do?
"For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
Nelson's describes these promises as - "a Yes!"
Since God is saying - "Yes!" - to you through His promise, why don't you respond with - "Amen!" - with your Faith?
And may He receive all the glory when Your Miracle comes - for it is surely in the making!
