Romans 16: 17-18} I appeal to you, brethren, to be on your guard concerning those who create dissensions and difficulties and cause divisions, in opposition to the doctrine (the teaching) which you have been taught. ( I warn you to turn aside from them, to ) avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites and flattering speech, they beguile the hearts of the unsuspecting and simpleminded (people).

In today's Scripture God is basically warning us of what is going on in today's world. He is telling us to be very discerning concerning people who are basically false teachers. That's why it's so important to study the Word for ourselves to rightly divide. That is how our discernment gets very sharp. And we sure need that in today's world. We have to recognize that anything that is ungodly and does not line up with God's word is something we have to stand against or get away from. Point in fact: Homosexuality. Today's world is trying to pass it as an act of love and equality. But what does God's word say on this folks? It says it's an abomination in God's eyes, it is sin, and homosexuals will not see the kingdom of God. This is truth. It amazes me how Satan has also infiltrated churches with this lie by putting in homosexual priests in many religions! Wake up church! We need to go back over Titus verse 1-8 that describes what leaders should be made of. And now he is also trying to change the meaning of marriage, it is a holy rite between a man and a woman.

We also have many Christian teachers that are still teaching rules from under the Law. We are under grace! It doesn't mean we can sin and do what we want either! We still have rules to follow. But we don't do like they used to do under the Law....such as kill and shed the blood of animals and many other rites they were required to do. Too many teachers are putting God's people under condemnation by being severe in their teachings. They are not supposed to command us to do anything, they are to teach us God's ways and let the Holy Spirit do the work. Too many leaders today are very condemning, judgmental and critical. I've seen preachers who see someone do something wrong one week and they will preach on it the next week while looking directly at the wrongdoer. Give me a break! Where is God's love and grace in this? We also have Christian giants who are teachers of God's Word and can greatly teach His word but will use it to better themselves by buying new cars, homes, bigger churches and anything that will make their lives easier. Yes, we are to prosper but our number one job is to help one another...help those in need. They will often use the law of tithing to achieve their own lusts and desires. Our giving should be led by the Spirit of God, not people. We are no longer under the Law. Tithing should further God's gospel, help those in need, and be for His purposes not our own!

False teachers have been around since the days of Moses. But they cannot advance or prosper if we, as Christians, stop them in their tracks. And we do this by not rewarding them in any way and praying for God to open their eyes to the error of their ways. And we see anything that does not line up with the word of God coming out of someone's mouth and it continues to happen, then we should not be sitting under them for any reason. Period! Too many Christians today in in churches that God never put them in. They stay there because they are comfortable and enjoy the socializing. False teachers may sound holy and anointed when in fact they are producing evil fruit. They love to teach about the Law but will not teach on the grace of God. They are not open to hear other people's questions or opinions on something. They will go out of their way to argue their point and prove themselves right and they will use the Word of God to do it. They twist it to sound holy and to put themselves in the right light. Pride is usually the root source of that. Beware! If you sit under something long enough it will take root, no matter how mature you may think you are. But for those of us who truly study the word, God will sharpen our discernment and we will see through them. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of God's people all the time.

The Law was not made for the righteous people of God. It was made and designed to expose sinners for what they really are. It's amazing where false teachers teach the Law that they do not recognize their own sin. This is because they translate God's word with their own understanding and don't ask for the Holy Spirit's help . Many people do that, this is why it's so important to ask the Holy Spirit for His help to open our spiritual understanding and to allow Him to teach us. We are coming into a day when we will not be able to trust many people. We need to remember that even Satan can appear as an angel of light. The antichrist himself will be a very charismatic person. God wants us to fully and completely trust Him and Him alone. The days will get darker and more evil and we will need Him more than ever.
When we see a teacher who is completely surrendered to God, we will see their fruits of humility, love, compassion, tenderness, openess, a generous and cheerful give, and other qualities we have read about in Jesus. A person that is humble will always be open to hear what you have to say, will be open to be corrected, will not have his own agenda, and will be open to let the Holy Spirit take over. We need to watch people's fruits folks! I would really urge you to take time daily to get into God's Word, don't just read it, study it. Get into His presence and be quiet and listen to what He has to say, we don't need to be talking all the time.

Get connected to a body, a church, where the Spirit is there and there is freedom and the gifts of the Spirit are in operation. Keeping in touch with Christians is very important, but that is not what God means by not forsaking the assembling together of ourselves. An assembly is when a body of God's people get together to worship Him, to be used in any way by Him, and to sit under authority by someone who has been anointed by God to teach and preach His word. Socializing with Christians is not an assembly. Do the study on that one. Satan is pulling people away from the assembly more now than ever. There is no such thing as a perfect church. If you are in one that you don't like what's going on, then pray for them, don't leave. Too often we leave a church over emotional issues rather than the leading of the Spirit. When we forsake the assembling together of ourselves we are missing out on a blessing not to mention that we are probably hanging on to a blessing for someone else. Also the body of Christ is an umbrella of protection over us. We may be operating in something we are not aware of, or something evil may be coming our way, God will show His people and they will pray for us. Get connected! We are going to need each other in the days to come. Not only to encourage one another but because God will use us in tremendous ways and we need to get prepared. So let's stop being religious and legalistic and become of good use to God. They shall know us by our love and our generous and compassionate deeds. Let's us show the world the character of Christ and not the dictatorship of Satan. Just one more note, an assembly doesn't always have to be in a church. I believe a time is coming when people will be meeting secretly in their homes with the same purpose when we got together in churches...to praise and worship, to learn and grow, and to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. God bless you. I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
