FORGIVENESS...TRUE LIBERTY

One of my responsibilities here at the church where I work is getting videos for worship that will support the sermon. (sermon illustrations)

I want to share this video with you guys because it gets to the heart of what a Believer experiences.

I know for me, I get so frustrated with people. I mean REALLY frustrated. At times, I find myself grumbling and thinking unloving thoughts about people.

"She really gets on my nerves"

"Is he stupid or what?"

"Why don't they just do it this way....ARRRGGG"

"Get out of my way, I'm in a hurry"

"What's their problem anyway???"

"I wish she'd just shut up"

Have you ever had days like that? I know, I know, people think that just because you are a Christian that you are loving ALL the time. That's just not so. As Believers, we must take our thoughts captive and MAKE them obey Christ. But that doesn't mean we actually do it all the time. Sometimes we need reminders.

Sometimes, we need to see people as Christ sees them....

Click on the link below and see what happens to the man in the video. He has the same experiences that we all encounter daily.

REMEMBER (this includes me too)….

Do nothing from selfishness (thinking only of how things affect you) or conceit (arrogance, smugness, snobbery, self-satisfaction, self-importance), BUT in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4

I’m so guilty of not considering the feelings of others. I often assume that what I do or how I react to a situation only affects me. Part b of the verse says look not ONLY to your own interests…see, we are not told to not care about ourselves. After all, the 2nd greatest commandment is to love others AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF.

Where we fail is that we stop at ourselves and don’t go on to others. * Sigh* at least this is where I fail sometimes.

So, if you are like me or the man in the video, let’s take a moment to ask God to forgive us of all of our unrighteousness and then if you have an ought with your brother or sister, take this week to go to them and ask for forgiveness. Whether you think they will forgive you or not, do what you should do to leave peaceably with all men/women.

Remember, God does not hold YOU responsible for the what other people do, say or think. But YOU are held accountable for what YOU do, what YOU say and how YOU think.

Have a wonderful weekend! Happy 4th of July.

Thank you Lord for liberating us… freeing us from the dominion of sin!!!
