I had a conversation in the congregation and want to hear your view,,is Once saved always saved? Now remember the story of the Prodigal Son,,he walk away from his fathers house and we walk away from the presence of GOD
ONCE saved, always saved. That is the cry so often heard from many of the pulpits today. "I can do whatever I want, as long as I have accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour. Why I could go out and mow down a crowd of people with a machine gun and if I were to die at that very moment, I would be saved." Many people believe this teaching today, but is it true? Once we have accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour, can we go on living like the world in open, rebellious sin and still be saved. Most people who believe this teaching will quote the following Bible verse as proof: "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38, 39.

Now this is a wonderful Bible promise that God has given us and it should inspire us all. But does it say once a person is born again, it is impossible for him to lose his way and be lost? In fact, is this verse talking about salvation or eternal life at all? No, this verse is clearly talking about God's unconditional love towards man, not unconditional salvation. Salvation is conditional! You might also notice that the word "sin" was not included in the list of things which are unable to separate us from the love of God.

If we continue in sin, after we have asked Jesus to be our personal Saviour, are we really in a saved relationship, are we converted? "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins." Hebrews 10:26.

EXCELLENT..EXCELLENT
I LOVE YOUR PRESENTATION AND YOU COMMENT I SAID BEFORE THE PRDIGAL SON DID NOT HAVE THE HOLY GHOST BECAUSE JESUS WAS JUST GIVING A PARABLE,,,,JESUS SAUD THAT HE MUST GO AWAY SO THAT THE COMFORTER CAN COME,,AND HEDID NOT YET LEAVE,,THE HOLYGHOST INTRODUCTION CAME IN THE DAY OF PENTACOST THIS THE PARABLE WAS TOLD BEFORE THESE EVENTS...SO THE PRODIGAL DID NOT HAVE THE HOLY GHOST...

YOU MENTIONED SAVED FROM WHAT?? SOME PEOPLE HAVE NEVER REALLY BEEN DELIVERED ,,IT IS NO WAY THAT THEY CAN SAY THAT THEY HAVE THE HOLY GHOST AND KEEP REPEATING THE SAME SIN,,,,WHEN GOD SPIRIT CANNOT BE IN THE PRESENCE OF SIN,,YOU REMEMBER THE STORY OF DAVID,,,THE APPLE OF GODS EYE,AM HEART FOR GOD ETC.OK WHEN HE COMMITED THE ACT OF ADULTRY AND MURDER,,WHAT SPIRIT WAS HE UNDER??

I also forgot to say that Spirit Filled Folk don't just do anything that they want to like the Prodigal son because they are led by the Spirit! Yes, the Prodigal son was initially in the fathers presence but the Fathers presence was never in him. And when we sometimes leave His presence or will to go after our own selfish desires, the presence (Holy Spirit) thats within us always convicts us and we always in return say " Yes Lord"! Now thats what it means to be saved! Thank you lord for your Holy Spirit!!

First, the question is Saved from what? Most people say saved from sin but the fact of the matter is all of us have sin. Past, present, and future. All of us have sinned in our past, have sin in our present, and will sin in our future either willingly or not. And if you say you have no sin what do you need Jesus Christ for. Jesus can for the sick and if you cant admit being sick Dr. Jesus can never heal your sick soul. Even Paul admitted that he was chief among all sinners. The bible says we are saved from the wrath (anger) of God not sin in it's essence. Secondly, you can receive Jesus in your life and still backslide and go to hell because your salvation wasn't complete! it is only when you receive the Holy Spirit that your Salvation is sealed. Some people receive the Holy Spirit when they first receive Jesus. Others don't! The disciples walked with Jesus for 3 years but they still had to wait to be filled with the Holy Spirt! It is only the Holy Ghost filled who's salvation is sealed. Thank you for this healthy debate!! Continue to Be Blessed!!
