Prayer and the Invisible War

In Daniel 10:12-13, Daniels first line of defense in the invisible war of the spirit realm was always PRAYER! This will be revealed to you in Dan 6:1 and 9:3, as well as in Dan 10:12-13 which best demonstrates the warfare of intercessory prayer.

In these scriptures we discover that Daniel’s prayers to God were heard by Him from the very first day that Daniel set his heart to purity of purpose and spoke his prayers. But then the invisible war was set in motion. The prince of the kingdom of Persia, who is the devil or Satan, held back God’s emissary who was sent to deliver the answer. For 21 days a great struggle took place in the heaven lies between the forces of God and the forces of Satan before Daniel saw his ultimate victory.

In the New Testament, the greatest example of a life of dedicated, effective prayer and intercession was Jesus.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was the greatest BREAKTHROUGH WARRIOR – the greatest Intercessor Who ever lived.

Just hours before He offered Himself up to be betrayed, denied, mocked, beaten, tortured and crucified, He won through intercessory prayer, breakthroughs that would protect, shape and solidify His Church forever!

As a soldier in God’s Army, we must understand that there are no victories without battles. Yet, who can fully imagine the extent of Satan’s brutal attack on Jesus, as the fiercest powers and principalities of the evil realm converged to try and prevent this intercession from going forth?

Which one of us can truly comprehend the intensity of this invisible war as Jesus stood in the gap, winning great victories for us by praying?

“Look at Jesus” “I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name the name you gave me so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the Glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me”. (John 17:9, 11-25, NIV). People of God, what was it that enabled Jesus to win this invisible war? (1.) He was Alert. (2.) He was Consistent. (3.) He was Obedient. (4.) He was disciplined.

Breakthroughs came not just through strategy, but through the characteristics of Christ Himself working in our own lives through the dedication of prayer.

These characteristics are:

· Jesus had a sincere Desire to intercede even until death.

· Jesus completely SURRENERED His will to the Father.

· Jesus fully acquired the Mind of God.

· Jesus lived a life of Thanksgiving and Praise.

People of God through prayer, Jesus broke through the defensive lines of Satan to forever win unity, protection, sanctification; love and glory for His Church, are you willing to do the same? It is written: As a man thinketh in his heart so is he! It Is written Verily Verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Let’s go to work people of God. Let’s get it done for Jesus!!!!!!

Glory to God!
