Really now, is obedience is better than sacrifice???

1 Samuel 15:22-23: “Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” (KJV)

 

Obedience is better than sacrifice because if we are obedient then we are willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to move into God’s will for our lives & be pleasing to Him. Unwillingness is disobedience & disobedience is rebellion & rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft in God’s eyes. Rebellion is rejecting God & His word, & when we reject Him He will reject us. Everything we are, everything we have has come from God only because God sacrificed His only Son to die for us so that He could give us everything. We don’t deserve it, but that’s how much God loves us. We can’t give God anything He doesn’t already have or any more than He has given & sacrificed for us. Sacrifice the flesh, sacrifice the things of the world, sacrifice all that you have to God – it is not about what you sacrifice – but your willingness & obedience in sacrificing – it is what is in your heart to do. We can’t just say we will give up this or give up that just because the bible says we have to – you might as well keep your stuff & keep stepping. It doesn’t mean a thing to God if you don’t have the purity of heart in the desire & willingness to do as He requires. If we are obedient because we want to please God, than sacrifice comes easy, & God will give us so much more in return. How much have we missed out on because of our rebellion, our disobedience, because we are greedy with our blessings, greedy with ourselves, our stuff. The more you give, the more you receive in return, if your giving is of a pure heart & your willingness to serve God.
