Reviving Sanctification Part 2
Intro
Sanctification means turning away from evil and moving toward the things of God with all your heart. It is not a one-time event, but an ongoing process. When you separate from evil and obey God's Word, your focus will be on doing what pleases God rather than sinning.
A. You are made righteous through the blood of Jesus, not by your own works (1 Corinthians 1:29, 30).
1. You receive right standing with God by faith. It is a free gift that is available to you by the grace of God.
2. Your works can't get you into Heaven.
a. There's only one way to God, and it is through Jesus Christ.
b. Have faith in the Blood of Jesus-not your works.
c. When you are in Jesus Christ, God sees you through Jesus "lenses."
i. Once you accept Jesus, you deserve God's best.
ii. All that Jesus has been given is given to you when you are in Him.
3. Sanctification unto God is a daily decision.
B. Why does God want you to be sanctified?
1. He wants you to be free from the power of guilt and sin.
a. Sin will make you a coward, fearful, and feeling unworthy.
i. Satan attacks your confidence by reminding you of your sin.
ii. When you feel unworthy, you shy away from seeking God.
b. You can't receive the power of God's love and faith with a guilty conscience.
2. Once you've asked God for forgiveness, He has promised not to remember your sins (Isaiah 43:25, 26).
a. You can be free from guilt when you confess your sins to God.
b. God blots out your sins from His memory.
c. You can remind God of the things you want Him to remember about you.
3. Holiness is achieved through sanctification.
a. What does it mean to be holy?
i. To be holy is to agree with God and His Word wholeheartedly.
b. Holiness is achieved through meditating and acting upon the Word of God.
i. God expressed His mind through His Word.
