The Passover Lamb: Observing to Honor Jesus

Today is the 10th day of Nissan. On this day, each year the people of God were instructed to secure a lamb without blemish of the first year and bring him into their homes. Also, symbolic of a day that was to come, they were to live with the lamb (symbolically hide it) for four days until the Passover when they were then to present it to the Priest, season it with bitter herbs, roast it and eat it garbed in their best garments but appearing to be ready for departure at all times. As it has been observed for thousands of years, the practice of reclining is done to show that God's people are "resting" in His power and glory in that time.

Jesus Christ is our Passover Lamb, one simple way that we can begin to observe this High Holy Season is to open our hearts to Him for the next four days. Remember His sacrifice, remember His love and seek to more fully commit our lives to Him in 2010.
