Proverbs 23:12} Apply your mind to instruction and correction and your ears to words of knowledge.

One of the greatest dangers going on in the hearts of Christians today is obstinacy. What is that? It is the state of being uncompromising, unyielding, stubborn, not open to correction or rebuke, unwilling to forgive and ask forgiveness, complacent, and let's face it just plain rebellious. This is a very dangerous place to be in. I go to bible studies at my church in the morning and the teacher said something that went deep into my spirit and I recognized it as truth. He said that people who are not in church or sitting under bible teachings don't want the Word to convict them and change them. No truer statement has ever been made. God put people over us as a protection and we need to open our eyes and see that. There could be things operating in our lives that we don't see or recognize and the Body is there to be shown these things and to pray deliverance for us. As long as we continue to go our own separate ways nothing in our lives will change. We will go on the same merry-go-round of trials, tribulations and problems in our lives with no sign of deliverance. And like it or not, God will allow these things to get us back on track with Him.

Too many of us today are following false doctrines because we don't apply ourselves to study the word to rightly divide and to show ourselves approved unto God. We listen to some preachers who are teaching the Word of God by putting their own understanding to it and we don't recognize false teaching when we hear it. This year we need to step it up and become accountable to God in obeying His Word. God warned us not to forsake the gathering together of ourselves as the heathens do, yet many of us are. God warned us not to be a part of this world, we are in it, but not a part of it, yet many Christians today are participating in things that the Lord detests. The Word is what brings correction and conviction by the power of the Holy Spirit and we need to get into it every day and educate ourselves with Godly wisdom. This is how spiritual growth occurs too. Too many of us are drinking milk when we should be eating the meat of God's Word. Many of us are being spoonfed by someone when we should be mature enough to be feeding others and ourselves. One day that wonderful Word may not be there for us. We can't win any spiritual battles if we do not know the Word!

We have preachers today who say to get rid of our televisions sets, don't go to movies, get rid of your computers, don't do this and don't do that. What are they saying? They are preaching self-sufficiency and legalism. Yes, there is a lot of terrible stuff on television, in magazines, online and elsewhere, but we don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. These same things can be used for the glory of God too. The Gospel is being preached in these very things. It comes back to us using Godly wisdom and knowledge and using the talents God gave us. Too many Christians today have thrown out just plain common sense. Many Christians boycott this and boycott that. When has that done any good? Things still go on. We should be praying to the Lord to change things instead. There is nothing more powerful than the prayers of the righteous. We need to be very careful who we judge, what we judge and how we judge. Seek God in all things!

Many times I have seen the Lord use someone to bring correction and even rebuke to another. Yet many of us are quick to jump on the defensive band wagon and tear the messenger down. It's just as important to be open to be corrected and rebuked, and yes even chastise if we need it. Don't kill the messenger! Go to God and ask Him if there is any truth to what that person is saying to us. If there is then be quick to repent and ask God to take anything out of us that is not of Him! If we are quick to defend ourselves or point the finger at someone and accuse them of the very things we are doing, then we really need to look at that. We may be operating in some form of rebellion and not even recognize it. If we are in rebellion in any way, then we are in sin!

Let us begin the New Year to walk as the people of God should walk. Be open to be corrected. Be open to be forgiving. Be open to obey all of God's Word. And most of all get connected with a Body somewhere. There is such great power in the assembling together of ourselves. God is moving as never before and great miracles are taking place. God has shown me a huge crest of His glory building up that will hit the churches in 2010. I don't know about you, but I certainly want to be a part of that. He has given me a word that His people will ride the top of this crest and be blessed beyond belief. But as everything else there are stipulations and that is : faithfulness and obedience, but most of all humility. Many of us need to be very accountable for our walk, our attitudes, our words and all that we do. Let us make 2010 a year where we step it up and become accountable and on fire for God and all that He has for us. Amen? Amen! God bless you over and above what you even expect in this coming year. And remember, I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever
could.
