WHERE IS THE POWER IN THE CHURCH TODAY?

Where is the power in the church today?

Please read Acts 2:1-12

Warning this is a letter of Love.

The birth of the Church 2,000 years ago, was not born weak or anemic or spiritless. In fact, it took the Church only 200 years after Jesus Christ died on the cross to influence the entire world with Christianity. Think of it, this early Church was not born by silver tongued orators with slick preaching of the Gospel such as we have seen and still see today. No, the early Church was not born through intellectual manipulation of people. It was born in a demonstration of POWER!!!

When the 120 came out of the Upper Room, they were staggering under the influence of that power. The religious leaders and devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem at that time were confounded and amazed that these unlearned men and women were praising and magnifying God in languages which were completely foreign to them. Remember these Jewish leaders were devout men. They knew the Scriptures and were faithful in fulfilling the laws which had been handed down to them. Nothing had every happened like this before.

They marveled as Peter, with the glory of God shinning forth from his face, delivered one of the most powerful sermons ever preached. Peter didn’t deliver a discourse on Jewish history, didn’t compose an intellectual essay; He began to speak with a new anointing. It was no longer Peter speaking, it was the Holy Spirit of God speaking through him with Power and Authority. Peter told them of God’s promise in the book of Joel being fulfilled in what was happening in that day: “For these are not drunken, as ye suppose. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. (Acts 2:15,16). This was the outpouring God promised He would send in the last days. This was the promise of the Father, the Power from on High which had descended upon them that day.

This was the day God had chosen to give to the Church Power to fulfill the Great Commission Jesus had given them before He ascended into Heaven. Hallelujah!!

That same Power that was so evident in the early Church is still in the world today. The Holy Spirit has not removed His Presence and Power from the Church, but many Christians have hindered the flow of that power by not yielding their hearts and lives to Him.

Men and Women of God we have a choice to allow the lost to stay lost, and watch the world die, or we have the Power and Authority through Jesus Christ to allow the Spirit of the Holy Ghost to flow through us and speak life to a dieing world. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Speak Life!

There are know short cuts with God, we must live a Holy, Righteous and Intimate life, surrendering our life to the creator, the one who gave us life. For it is written I have come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

People of God we are the light of the world.

Father God I come before you surrendering my mind, will, and emotions to you. Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the glory, forever. Amen.

True power and Authority come from the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end.

To God be the Glory, I strive for the Power of God to flow through me like rivers of running water, in order to give God All the Glory, Honor and Praise!
