This question was asked in a forum earlier today and Brother James answered as follows:

Paul never, in a universal way, ordered all women of all time to not preach. It was the situation in the city of Timothy that Paul said his statements.

In 1 Corin 11, where women were told to keep silent, Paul was not saying that to all women or all time. The situation was that women were causing lots of confusion about many different things, and Paul ordered that they shut up, and ask their husbands things at home.

If God calls women to his ministry, which he has, and is still doing, then no one has the right to say they cannot preach, especially if they do not understand the historical context of scripture.

My follow up question is does this explain women apostles and pastors today as well?

Below is a link for the Book of Sirach... I love this entire book. In the Apocrypha it is called... Ecclesiasticus and chapter 26 deals alot with women.

BOOK OF SIRACH
Sister. I read that this morning. what stood out was when it said that a good wife is reserved for them that fear God. I almost screamed. Sir 26 is an awesome chapter. I know that my great future wife will come when my heart bleeds in fear of the Lord. halleluYAH.

I myself will not count out the apocrypha books. So much of Yah's revelation in them.

Be blessed sis,
James
Junia is female but you will have to study Greek - Hebrew mindsets to learn this. this is a simple lesson in Greek language. The debate was which name was taken from the Hebrew and in review of Peshitta, it was clearly the female version of the name. There is no question to those who study linquistics of Greek that Junia is certainly a female gender. But it was not just Apostle Junia who were among the women, Shaul spoke of numerous women among them.

To help avoid the confusion... I will use the King James 1611 before that later folks decided a woman should not be noted as important among the apostles... and changed her name to a male version. this perhaps may clarify this for us.

16:6 Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.

16:7 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

16:8 Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.

16:9 Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.

16:10 Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.

16:11 Salute Herodion my kinsman. Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord.

16:12 Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.

16:13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

16:14 Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.

16:15 Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.

I believe that Junia was as Shaul said, noted among the apostles. Let us leave her mark in the Besorah of Yahushua with this wonderful commendation. She is our mother in Yahushua. Let us not take away her worth in the Besorah as the Greeks tried to do in order to prove their prejudices against what was Truth. Shalom in Ruwach and in Emet.
Well, I am pleased that Abba gave me one ability and that is to read for myself. I may see purple and you may see organge... but Praise Abba for giving each of us here a blessed mind. I am proud of Apostle Junia and all those who helped Shaul in his work for Yahushua.... I will not allow anyone to take away their labors nor their titles in my worldview to satisfy a point of view. We are sometimes right and sometimes, we must respectfully concede that it many not be what we think it should be. Because we think it should be one way does not make it that way. Too many know there were male and female apostles and to carry this on is a disrespect to their contributions to our Messiah and our Abba. So as for me, this topic is now closed. Shalom....

From King James Version 1611.... Shaul praises those who labored...

16:1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

16:2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

16:3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

16:4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

16:5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

May this is why Abba created the Helpmeet... in the beginning.
