I cannot seem to find any evidence in the LAW that the "weekly" sabbath is from evening to evening. The ONLY time I see from "evening to evening" is during the day of atonement(Lev 23:32). Some believers say that the weekly sabbath is from evening to evening, but I see no such evidence for that in the law. The law simply says the 7th day, and evening to evening for the day of atonement sabbath.

Anyone have any thoughts??

Blessings Moreh,

My understanding is that it is not just about Sabbath... evening to evening but that is how a biblical day is counted. Perhaps, it was the Roman Greco calendar that has us thinking each day is morning to midnight 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Welll... this is the source I understand Abba to explain a day...

Genesis 1:4-10 (King James Version)

4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

and if you continue to read, Abba does this through the seventh days.. including Sabbath.
Eemah,

I have found out that the Hebrew for day can mean day, and or period. I read the above scripture, but I still do not see a solid case for the weekly Sabbath being from evening to evening. The only context of a 24 hour Sabbatical period is the period of atonement(Lev 23). This is the only scripture-context that it is written in.

I actually have a friend who totally rejects me as being her brother in Christ because I keep the weekly Sabbath in its proper context, which is on the 7th day. The only time we have to do a 24 hour Sabbath is the period of atonement. How does that sound? is that logical?
