Pastoring a Church is full time .Many Pastors have Pastored for years and have full time jobs. It seems a lot to us. Whats you thoughts and comments. Let us hear your comments.
hmmmmmmm It all depends on the situation... There are some pastors that doesn't get any salary from the church..So they have get a job support there family....
And there are some that don't want to depend on the church to support them...
When I was in high school, my pastor advised me to go to college and seminary and take up a vocation just in case. I graduated in Music Education and began teaching. When I entered seminary and shortly afterwards, I was employed fulltime by my church. I'm a fulltime teacher and fulltime pastor.
In my case being an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church, we are strongly encouraged to have no outside employment if our church is fully capable of meeting our income expectations. There are many churches where the pastor makes barely above poverty level income from the church...in cases such as this, an additional income is needed.
It is the responsibility of the pastor to not be a burden on the church.
