Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

The tithe of Melchizedec was not given as a requirement but out of love and faith Abraham gave ten percent. It was free will...not a commandment!!! It is not safe to say that the tithe is a bare minimum of what you should be giving. If someone gives less than ten percent with faith and love then there is no condemnation. If someone gives ten percent consistently with the mindset of having been obedient to the law...then there is condemnation. Galatians 5:18 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Our blessings come through Jesus Christ not our works...not our giving. We give because He first gave...just as we can only love Him because He first loved us.

Sister, I believe that you are on to something there. Although tithing came before Moses (Law), it still wasn't instituted until the Law in which was for the nation of Israel. The scriptures also teach us that it came through the Levitical tribe in which is Done Away through the Cross. It also tells us that the Priesthood was changed...Which Our Lord came through the tribe of Judah where there was no law concerning Tithe. Heb 7 talks about the change of Priesthood and the necessity of the change of that Law (Tithe) as well.
It is plain to see through the study of every Scripture that deals with tithe...that Paul and them didn't take tithes. It was a matter of heart and not neccessity...as tithing was not a choice in the Law.
I can go on for days with this topic...but this should feed the thought. This is not about discord...only other consideration of thought. Bless You!

Lets not forget whenGod made a promise to Abraham he swore by himself saying surely blessings i well bless u . t6hus God wanted to show the immutability of his promise by an oath 1 God cannot lie. now Heb 6:18b says we also have astrong consolation and hope as an anchor of th soul both sure and steadfast which enters behind the veil . now Jesus the forerunner has entered for us having become a High priest Forever acording to the order of Melchizedek.Heb 5:1-7 teaches us the qualifications for High priest so Christ did not gloryify himselve as High priest PSalm2:7 ps 110:4 it was after another PRIESTLY lineage . Heb7:1-11shows that the same Melchizedek recieve tihthes from Abraham who levi and aron came from showing superiorty of Priest hood Heb 7:11-28 so we still pay the new PriestHood.

A good look at Melchizedek will also show that Abram gave a tithe (look @ Lexicon) to him from his heart...not a command. As stated in the previous posts....the TITHE was Abolished. Nevertheless, it's a matter of discussion and maturity as how you see the scriptures. Just as Abraham...we are not under such Law today. There was someone attending the altar in those times of Melchizedek and Moses.....there is no attendance today. We have HIM in our Hearts....Praise The Lord!
May we continue to search the scriptures in it's lanquage and pray one for the other.
Blessings and Peace to ALL!

Do we still bring a lamb to the Priest.???do we bring a dove??? Of course not. Why? Because the Priest fulfilled this requirement. Did not the High Priest Jesus Christ also fulfill the firstfruit offerings??? Didn't He fulfill the Sabbath ordinance??? It seems that religion accepts the fulfillment of Christ in every area except monetarily. I wonder? We've got to think line upon line...precept upon precept...about what the scripture is telling us.

MINISTER A.D BELFOR, GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM, MUCH LOVE FROM THE SAINTS.
WE WOULD NOT BE SUFFERING MUCH IN CHRISTENDOM IF EVERY ONE IS GOT YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM.
THOSE WHO PREACH SALVATION AND LOVE ARE THE SAME ONES THAT TRY TO TEAR DOWN THE CONGREGATION. IS NOT THAT THEY DONT HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM, BUT THEY REFUSE TO USE IT SO LONG AS ITS TO DO WITH MONEY, THEY WILL OVER LOOK AND QUOTE SCRIPTURES TO SUPPORT THEMSLVES... BROOD OF VIPERS!!

Servant, You have hit it on the head! a lot of believers don't understand Christ meaning of fulfilling the law, In Malachi 3:6 he told us that he changeth not. as far as tithing, tithing is not used to take care of the Pastor anyway! one should consider Matt 23:23, a scripture that often is overlooked. tithes was never done away with. God didnt go back on his word from Malachi to Matthew, COME ON PEOPLE!!!!
