Happy New Year!

The Biblical New Year started last evening at sunset, with the visible new crescent moon over Jerusalem. Today is the first day of the Biblical New Year, the name of first month being Nissan.

Passover will be celebrated in 2 weeks, on the 14th of Nissan.

Paul in 1 Cor. 5:7 & 8 said:

"For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us therefore *celebrate the festival*..."

To "celebrate the festival", has anyone ever… Continue

Jesus the Pharisee?

Jesus the Pharisee?

by Denise Morris

The book I'm reading, King of the Jews by D. Thomas Lancaster, has a chapter devoted to the idea that, theologically speaking, Jesus was most likely a Pharisee. What?!

As the book points out, we usually think of Pharisees as super bad dudes. In general, being associated with the Pharisees is not a good thing. But, says Lancaster, perhaps we have misunderstood exactly what was going on with Jesus and the… Continue

Acts 20:7-This meeting is on "Sabbath" not on the "First Day of the week" in Tyndale's Translation of Acts 20:7 1525 - 1526 a.d.

The following is the translation of ACTS 20:7, where in Tyndale's day the major manuscripts said the day of the meeting was "Sabbath" not "First day of the week":

On a {And on the morrow after the} Sabbath day|Upon one [or first] of the Sabbaths| the disciples came together{to gedger} for to break bread, and Paul preached unto them (ready|willing| to depart on the morrow) and continued the preaching unto… Continue

Origen on “the Righteousness of God” = Messiah Himself

Origen on “the Righteousness of God”

I would like to present to you Origen’s interpretation of ”the righteousness of God” from Paul. He interprets Romans 3:21-22 and 10:3 in light of 1 Cor 1:30 and concludes that “the righteousness of God” is nothing less than Christ himself.

Here he is commenting on Rom 3:21:

We can now see what “righteousness” it is that has been manifested apart from natural law. It is the same which the apostle Paul says… Continue

Understanding Acts 15:23-29 (The Four Prohibitions)

Many members are asking the Messianic believers about Acts 15, whether this defines the responsibility of the Gentiles. If that were the case, if Gentiles only needed to obey these four prohibitions, this is what you are actually suggesting, is that this texts gives Gentiles a "ticket to sin" breaking the commandments of God that are not prohibited here! You are suggesting that a Gentile can do the following:

Take God's name in vain

Dishonor their…

A Proverb a Day for Wisdom

Reading through the Bible, along with prayer is the essential way to grow in Christ and develop your faith as a Christian.

There are 30 or 31 days in each month (except February) and there are 31 chapters in Proverbs. Every day, set aside a sacred time before arising in the morning or during the last moments of the day.

The Book of Proverbs can truly be called timeless and interactive. Do not expect to see the full message…
