for those who believe water baptism is required for salvation why the thief on the cross did not need to be baptized to be saved. A common reply to that question is: “The thief on the cross was still under the Old Covenant and therefore not subject to this baptism. He was saved just like anyone else under the Old Covenant.” So, in essence, the same people who say the thief did not need to be baptized because he was “under the Old Covenant” will use John 3:5 as “proof” that baptism is necessary for salvation. They insist that Jesus is telling Nicodemus that he must be baptized to be saved, even though he too was under the Old Covenant. If the thief on the cross was saved without being baptized (because he was under the Old Covenant), why would Jesus tell Nicodemus (who was also under the Old Covenant) that he needed to be baptized?
the only baptism that washes away sin and brings salvation is that of the holy spirit..

When we are born again we are washed by the holy spirit, the word baptism means to (wash) at the very moment one becomes born again, they are washed and made sinless,the bible says,

1 Corinthians 6
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Notice verse 11 says we are washed by the spirit of God! not by water, the water is just an outward showing of whats going on spiritually,the water it self, has no power to wash away sins,we baptize out of obedience as did Christ,not that Christ had any sins of his own to have washed away, but in keeping things in order.

Mathew 3:1-13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

we obey once we become saved, its salvation and our new nature that causes us to want to obey God,not the other way around,so we see and understand that water baptism doesn't save, but being baptized with the holy spirit washes away sins,and brings salvation.

Do You Know about how the Pharisees changed the Word of God and transgressed the commandments by their traditions? Did you also know that there are over 1400 different religious groups in North America that teach a traditional doctrine made up from portions of Gods Word?

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 NKJV

Today we see by the above scripture that Jesus said he was the only way to be saved, he said that no man can come to the Father except through him, in other words Jesus is the door into which we must enter.



Heb 12:2 KJV

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.



Acts 4:12 KJV

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.



Men in their zeal and lack of knowledge actually dis-credit the teaching and preaching of Jesus Christ and his apostles by promoting their traditions. Jesus taught the new birth of water and Spirit in John 3:3-8 and man’s tradition says all you have to do is to accept Jesus as your personal savior.



In the great commission found in the gospels Jesus commanded the apostles to go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every creature, and Jesus made this statement with his own mouth being the author and finisher of our faith. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16 KJV



The word believeth means to continue, so Jesus is saying if a person believes the gospel and is baptized and continues in the faith they will be saved, but man made traditions says there is no need to be baptized just believe, in so doing they dis-credit the teaching of Jesus Christ and make the commandments of God of none effect by their traditions. And in the process they deceive those that are too lazy to read the Word of God for themselves.



The word discredit from the Dictionary:

1. To harm the credit or reputation of; bring into disrepute. 2. To cause to be doubted, disbelieved, or distrusted. 3. To refuse to believe (something asserted).



The consistency of the scriptures teach that water baptism is indeed a part of the salvation process and must be done in the name of Jesus as he is the author and finisher of our faith. This is only one area where manmade traditions discredit the teaching and preaching of Jesus Christ and his apostles.



I discourage Bible students from reading a lot of commentaries and using Bibles with foot notes, as these are only another person’s opinion about the scriptures, and most of the time they discredit the teaching of Jesus Christ.

The Pharisees did not transgress the Commandments, nor did they change the Word of GOD. What they did was make things harder with their traditions, strict conduct, and zeal for power. Interestingly enough, not all Pharisees were bad. Apostle Paul was a Pharisee, and there were plenty that believed wholeheartedly on the LORD JESUS as the Messiah.

You have ignored one factor: JESUS did not teach nor actually say "water baptism". You continue to say baptize as if that is the only baptism that He meant. Are you that blind to the truth that the baptism of the HOLY GHOST and the baptism of water are TWO DIFFERENT BAPTISMS??? Tell me do you honestly acknowledge them as being two separate baptisms, or not? PLEASE, no super-long answers, just a simply answer will do fine, because this is not your classroom and you aren't our Teacher.

Thats a contradiction of true Bible study and Bible teaching!! Its no wonder why you Oneness are hard of hearing. You contradict yourself for the simple fact that you teaching and causing one to take notes automatically goes directly under the category of "Bible Commentary". Do you honestly believe that Oneness Teachers don't use commentary??

Jesus said in john 3:3-5 One MUST BE BORN AGAIN OF TWO THINGS!

Being born of water has nothing to do with H20..the spirit if refered to as water,or the water of the word being born of water and the spirit means just that the word of God is the water.."faith comes by hearing,and hearing by the word of God" water the spirit speaks of the holy spirit that washes away sins.

we only have a good consious towards God after we have become born again..we get baptised in water after salvation to show that good concious.
