Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

My fingers are being tied up right now. LOL
Is the only responsibility of the pastor is to "share God's word with his people"?
Hmmm... Interesting point but exactly what was the jobs of the Apostles outside of verse four? I know what they were before Christ said to them "follow me" but if what about after His resurrection?

And if the OT and NT word for pastor means to "shepard" or to "tend a flock". And we look at the ultimate job of a sheppard Psalm 23 then it is actually a little bit more than just preaching and teaching is it not?
Amen!
When God calls us to do a job, he will supply the means, when we obey HIM and lift HIM up, hearts will be touch, and the man or woman of God will be taken care of, however we must keep in mind, that judgment must begin at the house of God, and if it first begin in us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God 1 Peter 4:17

So what we do, we must do with a heavenly mind
I see nothing wrong with a Pastor being compensated, I gave 1Peter 4:17 simply to point out what we do for God and what we receive for doing it, will be judged. Compensation here on earth for spiritual work, is no where near the reward we will recieve from our Lord.

The Bible states that honor should be given to those that are due honor it is good to bless a man or woman of God for ones will be bless because they do, Philippians 4:17, however if one never is compensated as vs 19 points out "my God will supply all needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

It's the attitude that will make the difference.
Evangelist, let us not get so Heavenly bound that we are no Earthly good. Real talk, If one is never compensated, then the person that was to compensate is a thief. They have robbed both GOD and the man/woman of GOD in one clean stroke. GOD promised to compensate "Minister B" for their services and faithfulness, and it was to be done by "person A". If "person A" does NOT do as the LORD instructed, then GOD has to keep His promise by providing from else where, which may actually delay the plans that GOD had in store. "Person A" has withheld the blessing sent from GOD which was not only a blessing, but due compensation.

Go to your job on pay day and let your check be held. You gonna want your money. You worked your hours, met your requirements, and its payday: "where's my money!??!" Turns out that a person in payroll messed up and cheated you out of your hours. What happens to that person? You still have to get your money, but now you have to wait, and that incompetent worker in payroll is going to suffer and be replaced by a more suitable worker.
Well Brother Trevor unlike Brother Moreh, I totally don't get the analogy of your post period. There is nothing in scripture that points to what you are saying with this! I've never seen it anyway. I guess it's because I don't look at ministering as a "job" but a privilege to honor God by doing so for Him. But everyone uses scripture to fit what they want (not saying you do just a statement) and bottom line is we all have to stand before Him one day and by ourselves.
Yes! Even though I am against tithe taken inside the house of God, I do beleive it takes money to run a church and I also feel a Pastor should be paid a fee for his or her service. Now as for me, the HolySpirit doesn't want me to take money for my services. My Ministry is called "The Free Word Ministy" our ministry is our (personal work) that God has called us to do for Him. There is nothing wrong with taking a fee from your members, the problem is when Pastors get geedy and for get that their members has bills to pay also. Pastors has abused their rights by asking for so much money that many believers have stop going to church.

Moreh,

There is no scripture saying that a Pastor cannot be paid. If the Pastor is full-time, then He has the right to be paid.
See this is a huge problem! When people do this as a job to get paid that is a huge problem and not of God. Sorry if I'm the only person in the world that feels this way then so be it. I don't know why most ministers aren't convicted by this and try to use the lack of what they see in the scriptures to show they should be paid like some job for teaching God's Word. That just makes no sense what so ever. I basically think ever since I saw men like Daddy Grace and some others start making big bucks doing so it changed the way ministers think about spreading His Word. I guess if you don't get paid then you ain't a preaching. That's ok too because most need to stop anyway.
What do you mean huh?? LOL I guess I"m saying I totally disagree with the concept of ministers thinking they should get paid to preach and teach God's Word and view it as a "job". It makes no sense to me personally nor scriptually. It's an honor and privilege first of all for the Holy Spirit to provide you His wisdom, knowledge and undertanding to be able to preach and teach His Word. For you to even view it as a "job" just blows me away. You're probably too young to remember the first "pimp" like Daddy Grace and some of the forerunners to this game, as I call it. A game!
