Stop Kissing The Pastors Butt

If you want to be a blessing to your Pastor...pray for him and be faithful to the call on your life. Stop kissing his butt and carrying his briefcase, promotion comes from God not sucking up to people. Too many people are in position of leadership be...cause of politics and not God's divine move. That is why God killed Ananais and Sapphira, they were seeking influence by deceit.

Is it wrong to want to carry the briefcase if you choose to do it? If you had the oppurtunity to carry the presidents briefcase would you? (And lets not get so caught up in wether or not you agree with somethings he's doing its the highest office in the world, besides that of the preacher) You are correct Mark promotion does come from God and not sucking up to people, but you learn how to serve from within.

Real men carry thier own briefcases! I am sorry I see too many leaders feminize men by making them act subserviant. I retired from the military so I understand following leadership, but strong leaders do NOT like thier butts kissed. If pastors trained men to be STRONG and responsible to do thier JOBS without kissing up, we would have MIGHTY MEN of VALOR!

It is wrong if you do it because 1. you think it will get you brownie points with the leader 2. It is wrong if you allow someone to do it because you like the attention

If I see a leader needing help I am right there with the help, I have been in ministry over 30 years and I have been a Pastor......I carry my own briefcase

Mark I dont doubt a lot of what you say much of it makes sense. But what I personally dont agree with is the dogmatic stance you have of that says the person who "chooses" to carry the briefcase does it for brownie points you dont know that to be true in all cases some sure but not all. And then to say if you allow it your wrong because its attention seeking is wrong and also dogmatic. As a military man i know that ALL of you "respect" the commander and chief (if not the person the office) and if a person was to be given the oppurtunity to sit with the prez, "take his coat", "carry his briefcase" what ever the case may be it would be seen as an honor and something they will jump at and not think twice about it. If the president can get that nuch honor why id it wrong if a man carries his pastors briefcase.

I am not dogmatic...maybe a little disgusted with the attitute of many clergy that act like royalty, The President or my past Commanders were Govt. officials, Jesus however (Our example) Did NOT act like a DIVA! We are to have the mind of Christ which is a mind of servatude and humility, too often our leaders TODAY expect a degree of bootlicking, NOT all but far too many.

Let a teenager carry your bag if you MUST have someone do that....treat grown men like men! STOP feminizing men in church! I have been a leader most of my adult life, in the USAF, Law Enforcement, A Martial Arts Instructor, and now as a Director of Pastoral Care.....men need REAL challenges in order to be REAL men. Jesus sent men out to cast out devils, NOT carry his bags.

When I see an old saint I do it because I am supposed too, you know what I mean! BTW I am old too! But I still carry my own briefcase lol! Again I repeat there are too many Pastors/Bishops/Apostle whatever people want to self-proclaim themselves that EXPECT this kind of treatment, Jesus didn't treat his disciples like lackeys he called them His FRIENDS!

Too often Pastors treat men like they are women in that they forget men are natural leaders and have strong opinions and voices, a secure man is NOT intimidated by other strong men, i have had an insecure pastor ask me to leave his church, NOT because I was a bad member, but he was intimidated by me and felt I was more of an influence on his flock, I just shook my head and left. You see strong men don't like bootlickers and butt kissers, real men love leading real men..remember David's Mighty Men of valor? They started out as rough necks and criminals but through David's leadership they became strong men of honor that SAVED David late in life.
