Sure it does! The name of your denomination defines for the people what you believe and where you got it from.
What do you think of what this preacher said?
What he said about holiness was on point. Before we start declaring anything else, HOLINESS should be first on the Church's doctrinal agenda. As far as the term "Apostolic", yes it is not in there, however there are PLENTY of terms not in the Bible that we utilize. A funny thing to consider is that the term "Apostle" comes from the Greek word "Apostolos" and was a Greco-Roman governmental office. Its was not of Hebrew origin, but Roman origin. The term Church, which we get fom the Greek word "Ekklesia" comes from a Greco-Roman governmental terminology. JESUS used some terms that were outside of Israel to describe what HE was building inside of Israel.

Its all deals with context. What does the organization/fellowship/denomination name mean? Being holy before GOD is first, but thats not the ONLY agenda. One would be a fool for thinking otherwise.

As far as water baptism and what name to use, thats another issue that we have covered in other blogs.
Amen, you are right. I know what HE spoke, but the position of Apostle comes from the Greco-roman Government.
I think his 'knock' was mainly to Christians that get caught up into what the name of their Denomination is. Its as if the name of the Denomination will save you instead of whether or not you are keeping with God's teachings.
And for many Apostolics - its a real kick in the head to have someone purposely remove it from their Church's name.
Its almost disgusting.

If you think about it - IF WE WERE ALL TO LIVE HOLY AND KEEP JESUS AND HIS HOLY APOSTLES INSTRUCTIONS - a label amongst ourselves would be ridiculous.
The name does not matter, but rather the belief system and lifestyle does. For example, there's a "Apostolic" denomination that keeps the Torah, and there's also a Pentecostal version similar. Its whats believed and lived out is what matters, and NOT the name of a denomination.
Denomination has little to do with your eternal salvation. The only thing that matters to God. Is that you have accepted, from your heart. Jesus the christ as your [Personel] Lord and Saviour.on the great day you /i will be surprised who did . make it in ,and who did not make it in.Not all who say lord, lord will make it in,many serve God with there lips. But there heart is far ,far from him.on that day you will see baptist, methodist, presbyterians, cogic, holines, jew, etc. any and all who has accepted Jesus the Christ as lord and Saviour.. The only reason we have denominations is because of style of worship.
some like to jump and dance in praising God some Don't.A style of preaching say, a Pastor crefello dollar and a Pastor t. d Jakes. different styles but same message.
...different styles but same message...

There in lies the rub Pastor - many times its a different message. We all dont speak the same thing and cannot fellowship with others that follow a different message so its easier to label a group so as to steer you to toward or away from that certain group.

But I believe the whole thing about have denominational names is against the teaching of the bible, according to the Holy Apostle Paul.
I think (and this is my opinion only) it doesn't matter the Name of your denomination, but it should be based from a statement in the bible the COGIC name comes from the scripture

1Thess 2:14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
Wait, you mean JESUS wasn't Christian too!?!? :)
