Dr. Johnson,

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of how developmental experience play a significant role in influencing our self-perceptions, moods, worldviews, and tolerance for stress. For people of color, add the stresses of receiving racist remarks, micro-aggressions (when people of the dominant culture express attitudes unawares that are demeaning and cruel.’ They bring their mental and emotional state when they come to church.

I want to mention more contemporary stresses that are encountered in the church they attended. Some parishioners are mean toward others in the church, display an attitude of superiority and form exclusionary clicks. Some congregations are wrought with persons who displace their anger and aggression on ‘safe’ innocents.

Now let’s focus on what comes from the pulpit. If one watches sermons on TV and listens to sermons on radio, different types of responses of what is said are evident. Preaching seems to have misplaced God as the center of sermons, to people being the center of sermons. People are discouraged by a barrage of accusations that they don’t measure up to the rules and cultural demands of the church. They are constantly told ‘you don’t do this….You don’t do that…You ought to be more….You have to get yourself into position…! God may be mentioned peripherally as the One who is watching… ‘Don’t let Him catch you….! Is everybody messing up royally so that they need to receive a steady diet of ‘methods to…; or steadily being warned to guard against ‘this’ and ‘that.’

I keep wondering, “What role does the Holy Spirit play in teaching, strengthening, rising up against temptation, reassuring saints that God knows everything—even before they think about it. I don’t hear much praise for the power of born again members to live happy and victorious lives. I believe that we need to remind our members what a blessing they have in knowing God, how Satan cannot pluck them out of God’s hand; and God’s desire that we remain faithful to the end…and give them the desire and the strength to do the things that please God Philippians 2:13.

Members are constantly growing and being changed into the image of Jesus- by the Holy Spirit; but I don’t hear much of that. It’s as if pastors/evangelists take on the responsibility of badgering people into subjection in order to 'save them.' Now what is that all about?

These oppressive acts from the pulpit discourage people, make them angry, and influence them to either quit church or change churches in order to improve their mental and emotional circumstances and health. Let’s move from “horizontally focused preaching/teaching [centered on the imperfections of people], to “Vertically focused preaching that places God in the center; and is laced with spiritual gratitude, love, patience, forgiveness, and honoring those who we serve, in our role of Servant-Leaders. Let's communicate from the pulpit in a manner that people leave the service feeling encouraged, loved, supported, and feel that the pastor trusts them to live under the power of the Holy Spirit; and that God is the One who 'grows people spiritually.' As you know, the word of God will not make sense to anyone until the Holy Spirit opens up their eyes of understanding.

Please give me feedback, all who are attentive. Because no one person--including me--has the quintessential solution to such a complex subject.

Blessings,

Pastor Herman Fountain

Apostles, Bishops, Pastors and church leaders...Greetings to you, it has come to my attention that the condition of our church as we know it is in critical condition. Statistics show that over 2.7 million individuals become inactive from the church, yearly. They leave our churches under more intense care than when they first came. Studies show that they leave hurting and wounded from three specifi...cs issues, abuse, neglect, and disillusionment. I believe that we have lost our purpose in life, due to being blinded by our past experiences which left us in a distraught condition. Due to pain and confusion, we find ourselves seeing and misperceiving the truth of Gods word through the lies in which we have been taught from lifes deceptive experiences. Our lives are pleagued with memories of rape, molestation, physical battery, spousal abuse, parental abuse, abandonment, neglect, etc.. These encounters led us into a life of sin. Now to these eyes, sin is more so a haven of comfort and escape, not a realization of wickedness or wrong doings. So God now has imparted within me a word of restoration and love. This word will bring our minds and hearts back to the purpose of Christ and our commission, that is to repent and find restoration in the care of his arms and word. This movement, "Stop The Bleeding", is an engagement with your church that will cause the people to see Christ in His true love and power. Please support this move of God, and know this move will do just as much for the leaders as it will for the poritioners. Contact me via FB. I look forward to the assisting of the healing process within your ministries, so that the people will be able to hear and adhere to the word that is taught to them weekly.

With Jesus joy,

Dr. D.L. Johnson, Sr.

Apostle Dr. E. L. Gales, D.Div. and 'The Lord's Tabernacle KOGAC' invite you and yours to our BIGGEST service to date! Come celebrate with us the 6th Pastoral Anniversary of Apostle Gales, servant of the Most High God and Lord Jesus.

In addition, many of you were familiar with the 'Pentecostal Holiness Church of Christ ®'. At the direction of the Lord, we shut down the PHCOC and rebirthed it asan Apostolic Free-Church named 'Kingdom of God Apostolic Church. After the Pastoral Anniversary celebration, join us for the official Ordination and Installation of Apostle Gales and the Chief Apostle and Senior Bishop (in the same manner as Apostle R. C. Lawson of COOLJC and of Bishop C. H. Mason of COGIC before him).

*This Ordination is taking place due to the fact that PHCOC is no longer operating and the KOGAC is technically a NEW ministry.*

Lastly, we will end this monumentous celebratory service unto the Lord Christ Jesus by having and serving Holy Communion. It will be a service you will want to be a part of and will never forget. Let's celebrate the 6th Pastoral Anniversary and official Ordination & Installation of Chief Apostle Gales, and partake of the Lord's Supper!

Come be blessed and rejoice with them who rejoice!

Sincerely,

Apostle Dr. E. L. Gales, D.Div.
