JW's and The Bible

John 1:1



In the Jehovah’s Witness Bible called the New World Translation, they translate John 1:1 as "In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was a god." Notice that they add the word "a" before the end of the sentence. It should not be there. Now, we could go into Greek analysis of the verse, but that would be long, involved, and technical. Instead, we can use a simpler approach.

John 10:30-34 is a section of verses where the Pharisees say that Jesus is making Himself out to be God (v. 33).

Religion and grace are enemies

Religion wants nothing to do with grace; it wants to feel like it's right with God because it has somehow earned right standing with God by being good and 'keeping all the rules'. Grace humiliates religion, because grace admits to weakness and failure. Religion justifies it's actions while grace humbly realizes the failure and accepts mercy.

Religion is where a person tries to be made right with God by keeping the law. Homosexuality and Fornication

There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away.
