Another Excerpt from Article on Excellence in Kingdom Leadership

I recently shared an excerpt from an article I wrote for our church's newsletter. Here is another portion of it. I hope it blesses you. Be encouraged!

Excellent Relationships

Excellence in kingdom leadership is shown in excellent relationships. Leaders in God’s kingdom do all they can to love others with the love of Christ. What’s the best way for leaders to build great relationships? By being an example. Be an example of:

1. Love. Jesus showed love that looks beyond faults and is to be demonstrated by all of His disciples, to include leaders (Jn. 13:34).

2. Power. In His relationships, He demonstrated power by healing, delivering, and raising some from the dead. Kingdom leaders do not demonstrate power to control others, but rather to bring deliverance (Matt. 10:1).

3. Forgiveness. Even from the cross, Jesus forgave. Forgiveness is a little easier-not easy, but easier-when you know the folks with the nails and spikes don’t realize how they’re being used to get you exalted (Lk. 23:34; Phil. 2:8-11). Forgive.

4. Obedience. Jesus obeyed and so must we (Phil. 2:8). Obedience is better than sacrifice because it is truly what God rewards.

5. Prayer. Although Jesus knew Peter would deny Him, He said He’d pray for him (Lk. 22:31-62). Excellent leadership is seen in praying for those they lead, even people who deny them and disappoint them.
