A PEACE OF THE "ROCK"

Part of the great American "dream" that men were consumed with possessing upon landing upon American soil,or being born into this country was, and and still may be for some, was to apprehend and hold on to what was known as "a piece of the "rock""! This alluded to stability and investing in the security of this country' economy and wealth. For some, it may have ben represented by "Wall Street" commodities, while for others it may have been a few "CDs" with Merrill Lynch, but whatever it may have been, individual by individual, the general idea was that in acquiring a "piece" io this elusive treasure, and highly coveted "rock" , one felt relatively "set", and secure with an impressive portfolio, assured comfortable future, and quite pssibly, an inheritance for their future generations. In pursuit of this mystical acquisition, men labored hard and long, putting in "dog" hours, to the point of being "driven" and obssessed, being able to think of nothing else but getting that "piece"! They hustled, schemed, plotted, strategized, and even joined in "co-ops" or joint ventures to better their chances. Some sold everything they had, or borrowed everything thy could, just to get a small "piece of the "rock"! Many went on to "glory" or wherever else their life's journey may have landed them, with nothing but holes in their pockets, and shoes too, unpaid mortgages and bank notes, and a whole posse of debtors on their trail, no closer to their "piece", than when they decided to make it their goal. Well, there's another "PEACE OF THE "ROCK," THT'S EVEN MORE VALUABLE,AND IT'S ALSO KNOWN AS THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, AND MEN HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN PURSUIT OF IT, EVEN WHEN THEY DIDN'T KNOW IT!" This "peace" won't be found on the negotiating table of any corporate board room, and it would be a waste of time, to watch for it on Wall Street amongst the instability of the markets for "pork bellies" and "gold buillions"! This "peace" offers absolute security, and once you've known it, you will work "dog" hours and labor like a "Hebrew slave" to apprehend it and do watever it takes to make sure thaat it's never far from you. Now, this "peace" can only be found "in the ROCK", and this "ROCK" has no "beauty nor comeliness" that anyone who doesn't have some inside information, through the engrafted Word, would desire Him,or even guess at His value. This ":ROCK' is a stone of stumbling to the unrightous, the heathen, and the rebellious, and a "ROCK of offense", to the "Pharisees" and the "religious" legalists! This "rock" was "cleft" for you, and hewn out of the mountain of salvation! This "ROCK" is to some, "Shelter in the storm", and "Shade" from the brutal desert heat. Some declare that when the billows of life and despair are "raging", that they "go to the ROCK", while many offer up songs of thanksgiving for the "ROCK OF AGES,CLEFT FOR ME", let me hide myself in Thee!" This ROCK is as old as time and eternity,and it's as solid as the foundation from which it came,and it was there when the world was still "void and without form! This "ROCK" was the origin of every great "Mt."; Mt Siani, MT. Moriah, Mt. of Olives, Mt. Nebo, and Mt. Zion. This is THAT ROCK,upon which Christ built His Church , and it's the same One that we are elevated upon to escape our "enemies and our foes", when they come upon us and "eat up our flesh, and they suddenly, "stumble" over THE ROCK of our defense! This is THAT ROCK that took out, the notorious "Goliath", as It was fired frm David's sling! This is THAT ROCK that produced a "fire hydrant" in Egypt when it was smote with a sticjk, and it's that Rock that baked Gideon's sacrifice and swallowed it up in flames. It's not by accident oir coincedence that the Rock and Peace go hand in hand, because there are nautral rocks that are of such great substance and weight, that they are unmovable, and this Rock, is awesomely unmovable, unshable, unbreakable, and established upon it's sure foundation, and where there's "stability there's also "peace"! When men experience the wondrous glory and power of the "ROCK" and embrace it as their refuge, and hiding blace, they rest well at night, they have no fear, doubt, anxiety, or worries about anything! Their minds are regulated and their hearts are fixed in relenetless "ridiculous" faith, because they recognize, by experience ad observation, that no storm, hurricane, flood, typoon, natural disaster or raging inferno can touch, damage or move their ROCK. As they sit upon and meditate upon their Rock, their minds are renewed and they can only think on those things that are good and lovely, honest and pure and of a good report, these are the things they think on. They have such a measure of their "Peace of the Rock", that their enemies and those who know of the mayhem in their lives can only marvel and scratch their heads over the fact that they are not falling apart, whimpering and whihinig, or "running up the street naked", because they've lost their minds! Their witnesses can not begin to comprehend the consistent smile on their lkips, the "joy in their "hello, God bless you!" or the perpetual praise in their mouth, wihle the "repo" man drives off with their car, a"for sale"sign is nailed to their door, their son is in "lock-up", their mates haven't been home in days, and they are the subject of much of the gossip and mockery going on down at the church house! These are the "Rock Climbers" who are determined to stay near the Rock, and to fight off every demon that would try to separate them from It! They live in a realm of serenity, and blesed assurance that confounds carnal understanding, in that while others are semi-psychotic, and hysterical in a fluctuating economy, the threat of world war, the zero balance in their bank acccounts, the earthquakes rippling through their marriages and churches, and the presence of ravenus wolves and ruthless bears, they yet maintain a posture of praise, joy, and agape' love, because they have apprehended and secured their "PEACE OF THE ROCK!'
