Galatians 5:16} But I say, walk and live (habitually) in the Holy Spirit (responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit); then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

Most of us know that when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit in us that there will be a price to pay. Walking in the Spirit will overcome the flesh and bring great victories in our lives. If we learn to be very sensitive to the Spirit and obey His promptings then we won't make so many mistakes in our lives. Too often, we as Christians, don't confide in the Lord often enough before speaking or making a decision. It's so important to know the Word of God, because if we don't, our lives will be powerless and ineffective. The Word will transform us and help us to make adjustments that we need to make in our lives. Too often we give in to the flesh and overlook what the Spirit is trying to tell us or to show us. If you read the Word really look at the lives of those in Jesus' day. They went to the Lord with everything. The sought His guidance and knowledge before saying or doing anything. That is why they were greatly blessed. That's why we have God's word, it's the perfect road map for our lives. We often forget that the Holy Spirit sees the traps that are laid ahead for us and can lead us to a safe place. He goes ahead of us to do damage control so to speak.

We need to desire the Holy Spirit more than we do the things of this world. The key to great victory however is to obey the promptings that He puts in our hearts. Be quick to obey! (Galatians 5: 17-23 is a must read). We need to be governed and guided by the Holy Spirit at all times. We have a free will and we can choose to disobey Him but we will have a price to pay when we do this. We also need to remember that the Holy Spirit will never speak to us in contradiction to Scripture. We need to have the words of Jesus in our minds (Romans 8:5-6). Another important factor is to have the love of Jesus in our hearts. Why? Because when we operate in that kind of love we will not do anything that goes against the Word of God or that can hurt another human being. People will see the power of Jesus operating through us, it will be very evident.

So many Christians today will jump right in and do something or say something they think is good without asking God first. Too many of us are being led more by our flesh than by the Spirit of God. I know of some Christians who will push people in a corner until they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. God is not pushy! They love to judge, criticize and try to fix people. God may not have us lead them to the Lord right away. He may just have us love on them and then don't be surprised if they start asking questions. God is the one who will open the doors by His Spirit. If we get too pushy or too preachy with people we will actually push them away. All they see when we do this is religious and legalistic people. God's word says that they shall know us by our love, not by what we know or think we know. The Holy Spirit is very gentle and so we need to be also. The world is looking for people who are real, people who will help them have a real experience with Jesus....His love, His acceptance, His forgiveness, His generosity, His tenderness and patience. That is the biggest problem with many of us today, we live in a microwave world and expect things to happen yesterday. We forget that God has a timing for everything. Let's stop playing God and allow Him to prepare the way and do the work. If we are truly sensitive to His voice we will know when the timing is right. We really need to learn to be still and know that He is God. Anything we try to do with the Holy Spirit backing us up will be useless.

As the days get more evil and the enemy tries to put more anxiety and stress on us, more than ever we need to be led by the Spirit of God in all things. We need to ask ourselves if we are truly humbled beneath the hand of God. Many of us are not! We think we are doing good but the flesh is what is leading us rather than the Spirit. I would really urge you to pursue more intimacy with the Holy Spirit than you ever have in your life. This will cause you to have more peace, more blessings and a greater anointing on your life than you have ever experienced before. Daily we need to put our flesh to death. Remember, the mind is the devil's playground. Give him no room! The Word internalized is the enemy neutralized. We need to repeat this daily and have a great hunger for God's Word and His powerful presence in our lives. We have time daily to do the things we feel important in this world. Let us take time daily to get into His Word and His presence. In this way we will be perfectly equipped for whatever comes our way. God is bringing us to a new place, a higher plane in Him. Let's cooperate with His Spirit and make it a daily habit to dwell in Him and to follow His lead.. God bless you. I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
