LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVANTHOOD
Jesus Christ himself modeled true leadership for us all. He came to be servant of all, and to be served by none (Mark 10:45). Jesus' kind of leadership is different than the world's; He teaches us to serve the needs of others first (John 13:4-11).How many times are we self-seeking and desire others under our leadership to serve us?Jesus taught us just the opposite.
He taught us that the least of us would be the greatest in the eyes of God (Luke 22:26).He taught us that to humble ourselves and wait for the Lord to exalt us to a higher position of leadership (1 Peter 5:6, Luke 14:7-11).
Further, we all know that we make mistakes and fall short of what we should be as leaders. However, in Christ's infinite wisdom, he gives grace to those who first humble themselves (1 Peter 5:5). As a servant leader, we don't have to strive to ascent the career path in our management chain, rather we have to trust God to be in control of our lives! (John 13:3) If it is the Lord's will to raise us to a position of leadership,we then are taught to share that responsibility of servanthood with others so that the needs of more can be met (Acts 6:1-6), and then empower others to lead (Exodus 18:17-23). We must continue to minister these Godly principles of leadership to those who will follow in our footsteps, just as Jesus did to us, so that we all might be found faithful when the Lord returns for his flock.
