Jesus died Good Friday Evening and rose Easter Sunday Morning. Let's see what the Bible says.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Can you get 3 days and 3 nights from Good Friday evening to Easter Sunday morning?

Good Friday Night: Jesus Died (1/2) day
Saturday Day/Night (1) day
Sunday Morning: Jesus rose from the dead

This is not Christian Doctrine, it is a lie.

Here is Christian Doctrine

Jesus is the Messiah, so we know this to prophesy is death.

Daniel 9:26-27And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

It said in the Midst of the week, or in the middle of the week. Which would be Wednesday. This is with the Belief that the 7th say or Saturday is the Sabbath, and the day you are to worship on, nit Sunday. Lets try it. The Lord was in the grave 3 Days and 3 Nights.

Wednesday: Night Jesus Died (1/2) Day
Thursday: Day/Night (1 Day)
Friday: Day/Night (1Day)
Saturday: Day, (1/2 Day)
and Jesus rose right before Sundown Let's confirm that with scripture

Matthew 28:1-6
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay

It lines right up with scriptures. So if you believe the Bible, and are real Christians that follows the real Christ, you will see that the Sabbath is the 7th day, and Sunday is a lie. You will see that Good Friday and Easter is a lie. Here are 2 things that show from scriptures is a lie. What else have you been lied to about in the Sunday church? You can't find the 1st day being the day of worship/rest or Sabbath in the Bible, you can't find Easter, Good Friday, Christmas, Harvest Festival, the rapture, going to Heaven, The Kingdom being in Heaven, Going to "Hell" getting tormented by Satan, all this is passed off as Christian Doctrine. I challenge all Christians to call the scriptures a lie what I just stated. If there is no replies to this thread, I will know, and everyone will know that all of your doctrine you all teach your congregations is a lie, and you are killing your people spiritually. I bet all of your so called Christian churches have Christmas trees, and Jeremiah chapter 10 forbids learning those ways. Christmas has nothing to do with Christ. Tell me the scriptures are wrong. We who keep the words of the Bible are the real Christians. You can not separate Christianity from Israel. Jesus was a Jew of the tribe of Judah. All of the people who wrote the books of the Bible were Israelites. All of them.

Sorry you have counted four days. Jesus was not dead for four days.
Hezekiah,

Since you have stated your calculation of the 3 days/3 nights issue, why not leave it there? And, whatever else we believe, it's our decision and our faith - you cannot change that.

Peace in Jesus
I am not trying to change your belief, but I will not allow a lie to be spread and I am going to expose it . It's time. We are in the last days. It is time to come out of that slumber.
No, James and Bro. Hez you have just counted four days.

The Jews counted any part of the day as 24 hr period. = 1 day and 1 night.

We must seek to to understand "days" and nights" by inclusive Jewish reckoning of time, as often seen in the Bible, and use the idioms of the language in which it was written.

In this case any part of a day could be counted as a whole day (cf. I Kings 20:29 II Chronicles 10:5, 12 and Esther 4:16; 5:1), The Jewish Encyclopaedia states. "A short time in the morning of the seventh day is counted as the seventh day; circumcision takes place on the eighth day, even though, of the first day only a few minutes after the birth of the child, these being counted as one day." Vol. 4, p. 475).
Caral,

The biblical Shabbat is from morning to morning, and so if after Shabbat He rose, then from that previous day(friday), would count as a day. Morning to morning is 1 day, Caral. Therefore, Thursday-saturday is legite, and then on sunday, the start of a new day, he rose. You are following the rabbinic calendar, which in some cases, does not follow what is biblical.
So every day was a Shabbat? Give over, James go and study Judaism.
Look up on the calendar in your wall. Can you get 3 days and 3 nights from Good Friday evening to Easter Sunday Morning? Look at how you all doge the question, and you fight with Brother James. I would recommend Brother James to stay with the scriptures, and not argue about historical traditions of the Jewish people because you and I both know who those people are over there. Sister Caral. Please don't put me in a bowl with Pharoah or James, or any of them because I am a Christian. The only thing I have in common with them is that we all keep the commandments of God Period. Now will you answer my question, or are you going to doge it like everyone else who claims to be Christian.
I hear you Bro, Hezekiah, and I am glad to hear that you are Christian.

And please tell me seriously that you are not trying to argue your point from a Gregorian Calendar?

I have answered your question, four times, please, please reread my posts and then you will understand.
Blessings
I am going by the calendar that say Good Friday, on Friday April 10, 2009, and Easter Sunday April 12, 2009.
Ok Bro. Hezekiah,

Your calendar was introduced in the late 1500's and of course we count a 24 hour period as I day and 1 night.

However, during biblical times, they counted any part of a day, as 1 day and 1 night.
Hence Friday = 1 day and 1 night
Saturday = 1 day and 1 night
Sunday = 1 day and 1 night

Yet according to our calendar it is in fact possibly only a 60 hour period. Yet our calendar doesn't count, because we must go by the calendar that the Jews used, so that we can make sense of what they are saying.
You can't count then Sister Caral. Do you go to Sunday Church? If you do, then you can't count to 7 either. I am not trying to be mean, but I must tell the truth. Wow, I can't believe you Sister Caral.

3 Days & 3 Nights 24 hr day

Wednesday Night 12hrs: Half a day Jesus Died
Thursday Day/Night 24hrs: 1 day
Friday Day/Night 24 hrs: 1 day
Saturday Day 12 hrs: Half a day Jesus rose

Add it up. What is 72 hrs? 3 day and 3 Nights.
Hez,

Just because they are over there does not make them right about everything. Israeli Judaism puts first the oral tradition, and then the written Torah last. Its better to go by the words of YAH FIRST, then examine man's oral laws.
