It is my concern that we as "Christians" Need to define better, what God said in the bible, and what man says about the bible.

Ask yourself?

Is the bible the inerrant Word of God? Does God change His Word! Have Christians changed God's Words and Taught erroneous Doctrine to those who have not read the Torah(First five books of the bible) in a bible they really can understand , in the language they speak; to compare what they have been taught by preachers, teachers, evangelists ????????????????

Yes. I actually did my best to research that. I cannot find any evidence in the Torah that we cannot buy or sell on the weekly Shabbat.
See, this is what I'm talking about, this can get carried to an extreme. Stonings will occur, how did he get that from the Torah and the two of you didn't?
Evan, how did he get what from the Torah?
Evangelist, i told him i didnt know, but I didnt think it was good to do so, I said God doesnt say it anywhere in the word of God... so, it's well with me if God DOESNT SAY it's NOT well...
keywords "I didnt think " how easier it would be If you guys would just walk in LOVE, what is wrong with walking in LOVE?
Evan,

if you are referring to the buying and selling on the weekly Shabbat, and Elijah getting that from Torah. My answer is that he didnt get it from Torah. He got it from Nehemiah.

The question one would ask is why did Nehemiah state that if its not on the weekly Shabbat? My answer is that when Nehemiah spoke that about buying and selling during Shabbat, he was speaking within the context of the Sabbatical year.

Nehemiah 10:30,"And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. And we will forego the crops of the seventh year and the exaction of every debt." This seventh year is referring to the 7th Sabbatical year, but no where here is it referring to the regular weekly Shabbat or holy day or any other year besides the 7th year.
His private interpretation better line up with the written word of God, or else its a deceiving and lying spirit...
Elijah,

So true
Where do you think Nehemiah got it? Do you think he would make it up? NO! He was inspired and moved just as the scriptures said.

2Pet.1
[21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Like I said before, you will not find everything God said written down, but we KNOW the actions performed were directed by God. I will give you just (1) of many examples.

The first time we have a WRITTEN law about clean and unclean animals is found in Lev.11. But we KNOW Noah new about them in Gen.;

Gen.7
[2] Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

So how did Noah know which were clean and which were unclean? God told him. Was it written down? If it was we have no record of it, but we KNOW Noah KNEW there was a difference.

Here is one more;

Gen. 4
[6] And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
[7] If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Notice what God said ‘lieth at the door’ for Cain….SIN! And sin is to break Gods law. But those laws were not WRITTEN down until Moses day. And did Cain sin?

[8] And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. MURDER BEFORE MOSES! Exod. 20 [13]Thou shalt not kill.

So....do you think Nehemiah took it upon himself to say you can not buy or sell on the Sabbath? According to the inspired word of God NO!!!

At some point he was told that buying and selling was not what God wanted to be done on His Sabbath.

Again, God does NOT have to utter ALL we are to do. Just that fact that the words that Nehemiah SPOKE are in the bible is all we really need.

So no! I do not have to use 'private interpretation' to prove my point.

Just good old, God given, common sense.

Eccl,

Show me in the Torah where, on the weekly Shabbat, you cannot buy or sell.
My brother James,

When you examine the TaNaK, from the Jewish writings, there was no definitive way of keeping the sabbath free of work. The Rabbis and the Sages got together, long after Moses had gone on to be with the Lord and they brought this definition to the Sabbath. You will not find this in Torah. The key of everything is to keep 'our eye on Jerusalem', as Jesus said. Some things cannot be proven, simply by literal reference.

This is why we have to study and research the things of God.

But one thing which is literally agreed upon, through our discussion, is that the Sabbath is on the seventh day, of every week. This is the Sabbath spoken of in the Genesis account of Creation, right?

I will do more research on the subject of buying and selling on Sabbath !!

In Christ
Brenice
