My husband (a minister of music) was just excommunicated from the church because of his choices of dress and fashion. Granted, we are both very young and both functioned in the church. He was an evangelist, preaching and singing. (phenomenal singer and preacher ;) ) and i functioned as the youth program coordinator.

About a year ago, he decided he wanted to grow dreads out, because he liked them. According to our pastor, he only tolerated his hair because he enjoyed his singing. about three weeks ago, my husband decided he wanted to bleach the tips of his dreads because they were growing and he liked the style. After this, our ex-pastor told my husband he could no longer minister in the front of the church. upon having a one on one conversation with my husband, our ex-pastor was not able to biblically prove my husband's hair was wrong because my husband is quite astute in the word so in the end, our ex ended up stating that this was his personal preference because he didnt like his hair. Our ex also suggested he found another church home to be able to function in his gifts.

My husband was very angry because we both despise appearance-based holiness. God has also comissoned him to come against the "Church-Age" as a counry club for those already inside and welcome all people, regardless of looks.

He decided to pierce his ears. that was it!
he was then told to leave. The worst part was that i was allowed to stay if i wanted!

Do you agree with this pastor's actions?

I MUST ADD: the pastor in the same reath said that men with long hair was ok, as long as it was not pulled back as in a woma's style. having it braided was ok.

he then proceeded to make an examply of my husband in front of the entire church by telling everyone in front of my husband and i that he didnt want any men having dreads like my husband or else they would not be operating in the ministry...

Well......

Unlike mortal men, God looks on the heart of a man and not the outward appearances, (1 Corinthians 1:27). God approved of you before anybody else got a chance to disapprove. If God approves of you and accepts you as you are. why worry about what anyone else thinks? If God is for you and He is, according to Romans *:31 who can be against you. So when you are rejected (and we are sure to be, at some point in our lives). Know that as the scripture have said, that they are not rejecting you but the one that send you. So, with your dreads held high, shake the dust (devil) from your feet and withhold your blessing (your God given gifts and abilities) on that house. Move on and know that God will take that which was mean for evil and turn it into a blessing for you and the others that will gain, from their lose!

A reminder...

You are beginning to experience the unusual and unforgettable. Your atmosphere will take on a surreal quality, and you may even feel out of place. But, you must keep your eyes wide open. Be alert and attentive because I am elevating you to a level of spiritual discernment and authority that you have yet to realize. Allow Me to take you higher into the realms of My glory, says the Lord. Prepare to be stretched.

John 17:24 Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
Brother and sister,

I'm so sorry to see what your church did to you without proper teaching, but you need to understand what they did and why. There is a scripture that teaches about a man having long hair ( 1 Cor. 11: 13-15 NKJV). But to understand this comes with training. Futhermore, you would need to understand where treadlocks come from also. It is a form of religion where the men wanted their hair like a loins mane and grew it that way. If I'm not mistaken, it's vodoo, but you can look it up. There is a lot of info on the internet about it.

God bless
TO Lonnie, we have done our research and God is the same today, tomorrow, and forever more. ONe of his favored servants, Samson had dreads, seven long dreads to be exact. And the scripure you are referring to is Paul giving his opinion of long hair at the time. it is not a sin, nor did he call it a sin. We must irst understand where these teachings came from, the time period in which they were given, and why.
Well you mention Samson. But you aren't him....plus he took the Nazarine oath not to cut his hair. I didn't say it was a sin nor did I imply it was, but why they might have done what they did.
However you did state that the bible teaches against it. The author of the scripture you referenced said nature has even taught that it is a SHAME for a man to have long hair. If God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore why would he command sampson NOT to cut his hair in order to maintain the covenant if God finds it shameful for a man to have long hair, unless 1 Cor, 11:13-15 was the authors PERSONAL oppinion.
Brother,

You really need to read Numbers chapter 6 to understand the Nazirite Law. Then Read Judges 13: 5 to understand why Samson had long hair. Unless you have made this vow, then I would tell you that you shouldn't have dreads or long hair. But as with anything, the choice is yours. Plus, I never said it was a sin.

God Bless
