It makes me wonder sometimes when I hear people states God told me this and God told me that.

I have asked the same question before. Does God actually talk to a Person Continually? I still wonder about this as you hear people, even in their preaching say, And the Lord said to me this or that.

I think for some people he does speak to in that way however, I think we should be very careful what we are saying that the Lord said. There are those that have an extremely close walk with the Lord and you can try the spirits by the word to see if they be of God. Look at what they are saying and line it up with the word.

When you hear people speaking as though God is having a back and forth conversation with them you either get doubtful or you have what they call, Godly jealous as in, What about me Lord.

Anyways, whether doubtful or jealous I will not refute what someone says that God said to them unless it is off the wall.
A WISE WOMAN, CONSIDERS THE FIELD. YOU ARE WISE, WOMAN OF GOD.
THIS IS VALID QUESTION, EVANGELIST. AS IN ANY INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP, THERE SHOULD BE A STEADY FLOW OF COMMUNICATION, AND FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO PARTIES, AND IT'S NO DIFFERENT WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEEN THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE SERVANT OF GOD, EXCEPT, ONE HAS TO BE SENSITIVE, QUIET AND STILL, AND YIELDED TO HE HOLY GHOST, TO "HEAR" OR PERCEIVE HIS VOICE. WE CAN'T "KNOW" A GOD WHO DOESN'T COMMUNICATE WITH US, WHETHER IT'S THROUGH "PERCEPTIONS","IMPRESSIONS", HIS "STILL SMALL VOICE", OR THROUGH "THUNDERINGS"! WE "GET" FROM THE LORD, IN PROPORTION, TO WHAT WE "PUT INTO" OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. IF THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN ARE "ORDERED" BY THE LORD, THEN THE LORD HAS TO BE CONSISTENTLY "SPEAKING" IN ORDER FOR ONE TO RECEIVE DIRECTION. AN EVEN BETTER QUESTION WOULD BE "ARE WE ALWAYSLISTERNING FOR, AD TO THE VOICE OF GOD, AS WE ARE ADMONISHED " LET ALL WHO HAVE AN EAR TO HEAR, HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT OF TE LORD SAITH!"
Amen Sister Brignac,
I always like to consider what is being said when a person lays it on the Lord. I heard a message preached one time and maybe you've heard it too, where a Pastor said a sister came to him and said that the Lord told her, brother so and so is her husband. The minister replied that God would not tell you that because this man is already happily married. She replied, yes he did tell me that and I believe what the Lord says. Now unless God is going to kill his wife, that sister was ill informed or mistaken.

Another sister from our former church in Detroit worked for the post office making good money and living a good lifestyle. She testified at church that the Lord told her to quit her job and come and be at the church during those hours. Well she did what she said the Lord told her to do and lost her home, her car and ended up living in someones basement. Now, based on what occurred, as a result of her quitting her job, many questioned whether or not the Lord really said this. I personally wouldn't have questioned it if the Lord was calling her into ministry but to only be at the church (in which our church was open all day) JUST THERE, I don't know.

God is definitely, in constant contact with us if we have a relationship with him. I have heard his voice through dreams, giving me direct orders in specific incidents, I've heard his voice coming out of prayer regarding a move I needed to make, I've heard his voice while driving down the street. God has spoken to me regarding what to minister to a particular person. (revealing something this person needed to know) These are just a few ways that God speaks to his children. I remember the Lord giving me a dream of warning about a situation that was coming upon us. (my husband & I) When that day came about a month later right away we knew what God was trying to tell us. HE SPOKE THROUGH A VERY VIVID DREAM and we were able to act in accordance to his warning.

In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path. If we adhere to this scripture we will hear from the Lord all the time, but I can attest to not being able to hear God's voice at times when being caught up in the cares of this life. They drown out his voice. LET'S REST IN CHRIST SAINTS.
As a believer,I have no choice but to know, He speaks to us continually. He doesn't say the same thing to everyone, our paths are different.I base it on these verses, for the babes in Christ,[John1:1]IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD,AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD,AND THE WORD WAS GOD.If you ask God into your heart and soul, the soul is the gateway for the Holy Spirit! For the more learned,[2Cor1:12]FOR OUR REJOICING IS THIS,THE TESTAMONY OF OUR CONSCIENCE THAT IN SIMPLICITY AND GODLY SINCERITY,NOT WITH FLESHY WISDOM,BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD,WE HAVE HAD OUR CONVERSATION IN THE WORLD,AND MORE ABUNDANTLY TO YOU-WARD.If you're in Christ you're tuned in to the Word, written and especially spoken to us,are through someone,it's a constant!

Thank you for replying to this topic it's very needed. While I reading every one's replies.

My mind went back.. Remember when the children of Israel didn't want to hear Moses they wanted to hear God themselves. And the Lord told Moses What they needed to do...

They did what was require of them to do but when the lighting begin..etc..etc.. they Got so afraid and they stated they rather Hear/ Talk to Moses then God..

My Point is..If God is speaking countinually to a person...having one on one conversations.... should't they be a change in one's life...... (I hope someone understand what I'm trying to say) Convictions, more humbleness..etc.e.tc...... I know God speaks in a humble voices. he may not come as he did when the Children of Israel went to the foot of the mountain....

.But there should be a change in a person walk with God...I know sometimes when he does speak he just confirming what he had already told you.. before... But some of us are hard headed and won't take heed...
My sheep hear my voice & another they will not follow. The big question is, if you are following another shepherds voice are you God's sheep? We can not serve two masters.

Sometimes too I believe God speaks to us and we spiritually turn the volume down (paraphrasing).
Especially if he is telling us to do something our flesh doesn't want to do, such as, Go to Africa to minister to a small village for 2 years. Something such as this can easily be ignored but Just ask Jonah what can happen if you don't go where he wants you to go.
I do understand,I feel this is were we as christians who lead newcomers into the Kingdom fall short.once we lead a newcomer to Christ, and feel thier conviction,we leave them alone to continue the journey alone ,always church isn't enough people get lost there daily. The world is so consuming, that it sometimes breaks the newcomer, and before you know it,because they backslide in thier mind, they decide to just stay with the world.Thats why we don't see that change you're asking about stick.I personally try to stay with a new convert until they are ready to bring one into the Kingdom themselves..Almost like a twevle step program, always reminding my newcomer, change is good, but consistency is better!
