Blood Transfusions - Is it Ok for the Saints of God.

Warning: NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH

I am not a Jehovah's Witness but I was wondering if we are allowed by God to intake blood for health reasons then is taking placenta pills ok to ward off postpartum depression and increase milk supply? Some people pan fry them with onions and serve them up like liver and then some drink them as smoothies.

Now if the Lord has no problem with blood transfusions - would he have a problem with this? And just because we have the technology does that mean its OK to do?

Evan,

Blood "transfusions" have nothing to do with those. The bible forbids the "eating" of blood.
The placenta is apart of the woman's uncleanness. That is something that she would be passing after child birth. And if its just about the blood being unclean - then why would blood transfusions be OK for a saint? James told the saints to stay away from that - any kind of blood.
Newview,

The bible forbids us to eat blood. Blood transfusions have nothing to do with it. You can't just manipulate the scriptures to fit this in. The bible forbids blood to be EATEN. Honestly, it does not speak of blood transfusions. You will basically have to use your good judgement. If you feel it is a sin, then to you it is a sin.
No it was forbiden because life is in the blood. The importance is not in how one gets it into their body. Back then the only way they could take it in was to drink or eat it. New Testament instructions were to stay away from it.

And of course if I find it a sin it is a sin to me - but I only brought it up as a topic of conversation and debate as any other thing saints have to decide on.
Like you - you do a lot of basing your walk on OT rules and regulations. I think you dont have to and maybe lay off a little on that - because the Meshiac has left us the Holy Spirit to guide us in ways that OT rules could never help us. Although I dont think all of them are done away with - but maybe let go a little of the Old and rely more on the Holy Spirit that will be with us ALWAYS. :)

Buth then basically you have to use your good judgement.

newview,

Yeshuah never layed off Torah... Why should I?
The Torah says that LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD...
So that to me means - "Dont transfuse blood - people of Israel"

Dont eat the blood..
Dont drink the blood
Dont swim in the blood.
Dont get facials with the blood.
Dont fill up syringes with the blood and shoot them into your bodies - people of Israel...because life is in the blood - O people who love to keep my commandments.
Newview,

Torah says not to eat. It said nothing about swiming or touching it. Yeshuah touched a woman with an issue of blood. Do not add or take away from the Torah! Also, Torah says life of the FLESH is in the blood. It does not say,"life is in the blood."
No James, the woman with the issue of blood TOUCHED Yeshuah, remember HE stated "who touched me" now of course he knew, but faith without works is dead, she had to confess her faith.
Evan,

I stand corrected by that. thanks :)
