Bro Trevor...do you mean dont talk to them cuz they have scripture to back what is said? i am happy to say that i follow what i read out of the Bible and not some man standing there talking words of his mind for 2 hours with 1 scripture. instead of answering the thread, sister angela took it upon herself to ask questions about others.
Don't worry Trevor I will set up a thread on the Holy Ghost, so you can tell me that the scriptures I put up don't line up with theology.
@ sister angela...i havent seen one piece of scripture to back your view. care to elaborate with some scripture on what you believe? it may be more productive than just trying to slap down what another has said with words of your mind. perhaps maybe you should read/study a little so you would have more ability to present your argument and have a healthy discussion about Jesus' teachings.
Matthew 10:16-22
16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Matthew 5:10-12

10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
You missed the point totally Hezekiah.

Again...........
What is the point?
Can you tell me where I missed your point Brother Trevor.
Sure I can. I asked this simple question before:

"is this a matter of if they have "permission", or do they have "the ability"?

Instead of dealing with that directly, you went out into left field! What I said was not a metaphor, or anything like that. My question was a literal and direct question. I want to know what exactly does she mean by the question, because this is too broad of a subject for me to be just running around chasing any old debate.
I agree that the conversation did go into left field. I was surprised that it went the way it did. This conversation should be about whether pastors should lie, not whether people are lying by going to church on Sunday and not keeping the commandments. That is a different topic in my opinion.

shalom
but isnt a given that pastors ~shouldnt~ lie since they are supposed to be teachers?
Nothing is a given. The question shoul not be defined by anyone else by the creator of the blog/discussion. I've sat here and watched people who didn't ask the question try to say what the question was, and its crazy!

EVANGELIST EMEKA, GIVE CLARITY TO THE QUESTION PLEASE!!
well the reason this thread doesn't make complete sense is that no one is SUPPOSED to lie. To give pastor, teachers, firemen, lawyers, or anyone else a pass is basically putting them, not only above the law, but above other people. What special considerations should a pastor get in the eyes of the law?
