poor theology? becasue of bad theology many people that call on the name of jesus and claim that they are saved do so in vain.... Theology isn't bad. it's the study of God. unless we worship him in spirit and in truth then we do it in vain. Theology allows us to understand the truth of who God is and how he wants us to follow after him. People hate theology becasue it exposses peoples hate for God.... even with those that call them selfs christians... i agree with you Todd in that you dont half to speak in tongues tobe saved.
Brother, Prophet Jeromy A. Smith,
I have to encourage you to read the discussion question...No one who has joined in on the discussion has stated or even hinted that One must Speak in Tongues to be Saved!
The Question is, "Is Speaking in Tongues The First Evidence of being Filled or Baptized with The Holy Ghost?"
There is a difference between being Saved and being Filled or Baptized with The Holy Ghost!
Please refer to: Acts 1:5 and Hebrews 6:2
God bless you, and Theology is Great!!!....when it's according to God's Word.
Sir i only said i was in agreement with Todd, that you dont half to speak in tongues to be saved, im very well aware of our discussion, im starting to really enjoy it.
Speaking in tongues is just the evidence of being filled with the Holy Ghost, the evidence being the show, witnessed, and believed, but when we repent and ask for forgiveness the spirit then moves into our bodies enhancing our spirit. I know many people who have given their lives to God and still does not speak in tongues. but the spirit is in them. So the answer is no, it is not the first signs, when we repent their are other signs that are evident that the Holy Spirit resides within us..a new humbless, spiritual awareness, a new comfort, a new joy. these things often take place before the speaking of tongues
Greetings Prophetess Ura Gray,
Consider Mark 16:17
And these SIGNS shall follow them that believe.
1. In (His Name) shall they cast out devils.
2. THEY SHALL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES.
3.They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.
4. They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
I agree, especially to "the churched" you can clearly notice a new humble-ness, spiritual awareness, new comfort, and new joy which are the benefits of The Holy Spirit. But "the un-churched" might label this new life-style and dispostion as "Weird". But "the un-churched" will clearly notice "SIGNS": Casting out devils, Speaking in New Tongues, not being hurt by any deadly thing, laying hands on the sick for their recovery...Not to mention an un-questionable action being put on display for God's Glory! These "types" of SIGNS are the ones or one discussed. The ones or one we see on Pentcost and the First time gentiles were baptized in The Holy Ghost. I Believe this is "the spirit" of the discussion....The Pentecostal View, Tongues as the first evidence vs. The Holiness View-Tongues are one of many gifts, that could be the first evidence of the baptism of The Holy Spirit.
Lastly I'll end with this: Isaiah 28:11- 12
"For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people. To whom He said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."
God Bless you Prophetess Gray, and Thank you so much for your insight!
Yes Amen Pastor, I think to the un-churched or un learned it all looks weird, the different behaviors, the different tongues especially, but I do wonder if the speaking of the tongues sign is maybe meant for the believers?, When the bible refers to them that believe or Gods/His people it is referring to the saints. To see with their own eyes and hear with thier own ears that there is a Holy Spirit. people get kinda scared or weired out when you speak in tongues, some even feel that it is cultic or just a show because they have never been exposed to it and dont understand or even know what the bible says or had a spiritual encounter with the Spirit. and yes I know that the signs and wonders does get the attention of the unbelievers..It is my pleasure to be a part of your discusion.
repentence is a fruit of the spirits moving upon a person.
John 3 verses 3 and 5
Would'nt you agree that Repentence is The Choice of Mankind, a product of his free-will?
We would never say that The Holy Spirit forces one to Repent.
The Holy Spirit draws us to God, but we choose to Repent and Recieve Jesus!
Romans 10:10 says For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
John 3: 3-5 refers to Mankinds choice to be Born-again...The Holy Spirit does not force anyone to Repent and Recieve Jesus!
God Bless you brother!
a careful study of scripture will show you amans will is enslved to his or her nature.
with that being said how does a dead man choose anything. the bible declares that a man born into sin and possesing a sinful nature is dead. Romans also say knowone seeks the Lord no not one.
the only way biblicaly to sugest aman can have free will, is to follow the statement up and say your only free to choose within you nature.
so without a soverign act of Gods spirit drawing one to christ, the sinner will never choose God,
Here is scripture to show you repentence and salvation isnt a result of free will but an act of God by his spirit.
John 1:13
they “were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of
man, but of God”
notice the word says "nor the will of man'
there is no way around that, people will either agree with the truth and the bible or go away in error.
