There has arisen an issue concerning the details of the New Covenant that our LORD and Savior YESHUA/JESUS has won for us by HIS blood and grace. Therefore, we are opening this discussion and starting it off for the edifying of the saints and the settling of the matter:

The subjects for this debate are along two lines:

-Jeremiah 31:31 and Hebrews 8: Do we still stand on the Torah?
-the Seal of the New Covenant: Is it still Sabbaths, Feasts, and Circumcision, or do we have a New Seal?

Trevor,

Ahh, there you are. Read some of the articles I posted.
This is one of many "strongholds" (misunderstandings, mental reasonings) which people have accepted from constant exposure to false teachings. Romans 14 is often misapplied in numerous ways, since those who are “weak” don’t have enough training in Torah to understand. The text is discussing the very people who are misapplying this section. Being “weak” in the “faith” means the new believer has not yet learned the details of how to “walk”. This text is warning us to not “JUDGE” one another over food. But one important thing the reader is usually unaware of that is central to this section concerns FASTING. In the first century, the Pharisees made it a man-made “law” to FAST twice each week. This is the principle the people are misapplying, transforming the meaning from these two days of fasting and thinking it refers to the weekly SABBATH. Notice the Pharisee states that he fasts twice each week in the following text:

“Two men went up to the Set-apart Place to pray – the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

“The Pharisee stood and began to pray with himself this way, ‘Elohim, I thank You that I am not like the rest of men, swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

‘I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I possess.’

“But the tax collector standing at a distance would not even raise his eyes to the heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘Elohim, show favor unto me, a sinner!’ Luke 18:10-3

Now look closely at the text of Romans 14:

Rom 14:1-23: “And receive him who is weak in the belief, not criticising his thoughts.

One indeed believes to eat all food, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.

He that eats, let him not despise him who does not eat, and he that does not eat, let him not judge him who eats, for Elohim received him.

Who are you that judges another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. But he shall be made to stand, for Elohim is able to make him stand.

One indeed judges one day above another, another judges every day alike. Let each one be completely persuaded in his own mind.

He who minds the day (and fasts), minds it to יהוה. And he who does not mind the day (and does NOT FAST), to יהוה he does not mind it.

He who eats, eats to יהוה, for he gives Elohim thanks. And he who does not eat, to יהוה he does not eat, and gives Elohim thanks.

For not one of us lives to himself, and not one dies to himself. (these last two sentences reveal this discussion is about the “fast days” the Pharisees appointed).

For both, if we live, we live unto the Master, and if we die, we die unto the Master. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Master’s.

For unto this Messiah died and rose and lived again, to rule over both the dead and the living.

But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Messiah.

For it has been written, “As I live, says יהוה, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to Elohim.”

Each one of us, therefore, shall give account of himself to Elohim.

Therefore let us not judge one another any longer, but rather judge this, not to put an obstacle or a stumbling-block in our brother’s way.

I know and am persuaded in the Master יהושע that none at all is common of itself. But to him who regards whatever to be common, to him it is common.

And if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not by your food ruin the one for whom Messiah died.

Do not then allow your good to be spoken of as evil.

For the reign of Elohim is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Set-apart Spirit.

For he who is serving Messiah in these matters is well-pleasing to Elohim and approved by men.

So, then, let us pursue the matters of peace and the matters for building up one another.

Do not destroy the work of Elohim for the sake of food. All indeed are clean, but evil to that man who eats so as to cause stumbling.

It is good not to eat meat or drink wine, nor to do whatever by which your brother stumbles.

Rom 14:22 Do you have belief? Have it to yourself before Elohim. Blessed is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

Rom 14:23 But he who doubts, if he eats, is condemned, because it is not of belief, and all that is not of belief is sin.”

If a person did not choose to FAST, then that’s fine. If a person DID choose to FAST, that’s fine too.

If Paul (Shaul) knew that people would have interpreted this to concern the SABBATH, he’d faint from the shock of how incredibly untaught people could be, even with their doctorate degrees in “theology”.

Careful! Don't assume that this text written by brother Shaul (Paul) is granting anyone the ability to ignore Leviticus 11, assuming that "unclean" animals are included as "food". Unclean animals are not food to begin with, but every animal that Leviticus 11 declares to be for food is "clean", declared so by the Word. If the Word of Yahuah declares that an animal is not to be eaten, and you ignore His Word, then the prophecy at Isaiah/YeshaYahu 66:16,17 will befall you.

Overcoming strongholds like this is done by simply accepting the Truth, and Yahushua releases you (makes you free) by guiding you into all Truth. He would not guide you into believing a lie, and annul the 4th Commandment, the sign of the everlasting Covenant.
A person that says that openly challenges the authority of the Apostles of CHRIST has little to say to me about delusions.
Trevor,

Our testing of the Apostles must always be on what Yashah says, and what He says on the Torah & Prophets. Ultimately, we test all things by the Torah & Prophets... just like the Bereans. Will you be a Berean, Trevor?
James, you said:

First of all, this chapter or any other chapter in Romans NEVER spoke on fasting!!! Where on Earth did you get that from?!?! Who is feeding you this garbage? You need to stop lying on Paul and start quoting him:

Romans 14:2-3, 14, 17, 20 says this "For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him......I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean......For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.......For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence."

1st Corinthians 10:23-33 says this: "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof: conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved."

I didn't interpret or misinterpret his words, I QUOTED him. No where did he say anything about certain food as stated in Leviticus. When he said "all", he meant "all".

As for the Sabbaths, he said this:

Romans 14:5-6 says "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks."

Can you give clear verses from the Epistles that state that the Apostles of the LORD promoted the Sabbaths for the new covenant?
Trevor,

I agree at the moment. I havent seen any fasting in the chapter either. I posted that because it leans to my point of it being about eating meat and vegetables, and has nothing to do with the Sabbath.

Could I give a clear verse? Well, I gave a handful of scriptures showing you that they observed the Sabbath. In fact, I even gave you scripture where Paul, a Benjaminite, Torah keeping Hebrew Pharisee, stated that Keeping Yehwah's commandments are what counts(1 Cor 7:19). The Sabbath is a commandment of our father, so it automatically includes that. I posted an article about Romans 14... Its alot more to that chapter than what you simply read. I suggest you read the article. It isnt that long.
I read it already. See, the funny thing is when you say "commandments", the first and only thing your mind goes to is the 10 commandments, which is a wrong mentality.

Also, the Levitical priesthood, if I am not mistaken, was a commandment just as well. In fact, lets see what it says about them:

Deuteronomy 18:1-2, 5 "The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.....For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons forever."

It was GOD that commanded that they be priests FOREVER, right? But it appears that HE changed HIS very own decree! One may say "how can HE do that?" Simple: in ancient Persia, the laws of the king were everlasting. Even the king himself could not break them. However, the king could make a new law that did away with the old law. This example is found in the book of Esther, and this is where the Feast of Purim comes into play. We both know that the Levitical priesthood is no more. How? Because GOD made a totally new commandment. The LORD JESUS didn't say it out of HIS mouth, but the HOLY SPIRIT inspired the Apostles to teach such. By your standard, they have committed heresy, but they haven't did they? Likewise, the Sabbath is gone away with a new law. A new covenant brings in and needs a new law, otherwise it wouldn't be new at all. Galatians 4 says this:

"Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? For I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you. Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free."

Galatians 5

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Interestingly, not only does it say that about Sabbaths, it says that about circumcision as well!
Trevor,

The Hebrew word used for "forever" in Deut 18 is the word Yom. Simply speaking, Yom means "day", but it also has several other meanings.....

day, time, year

a) day (as opposed to night)

b) day (24 hour period)

1) as defined by evening and morning in Genesis 1

2) as a division of time

a) a working day, a day's journey

c) days, lifetime (pl.)

d) time, period (general)

e) year

f) temporal references

1) today

2) yesterday

3) tomorrow

Notice the meanings general period, time, lifetime..... words along those lines. Yehwah did not contradict His own words. The Hebrew for eternal, or a definite forever was not used here in the case of the Levitical Priesthood. As you know, the temple is destroyed, so therefore if Yehwah meant eternity, then the temple would have not been destroyed. So, as above, this Levitical priesthood would only extend for a certain period of time. Rev 21-22 reveals that there will be no temple, for Yehwah and Yashah will be our temple. So, no contradiction there.

I've explained to you the historical backdrop of Galatians. I suggest you go back and study it, or research it again. Paul was not beating down on them because they were observing the feast days, etc, rather, they were doing it for a means of being saved. Take heed to these words, Trevor.
I thought this might help!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember the earliest church members were Messianic Jews and they had the first Messianic Congregations. These were the people that either sat at the feet of the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ or had teachers that did so. Today we see a Church System operating that is quite different from the Church system operating in the New Testament.
Heb.13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day and for ever."
and the beginning of Heb.13:9 reads
" Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrine."
One must bear in mind that the translators put in the verse and paragraph breaks and by doing so one could distort the true meaning and flavor of the text. What I am saying is that nothing has changed. Jesus Christ, Salvation, Baptism, and all the other Doctrines have stayed the same. Do not buy into any other doctrines or teachings other than what Jesus and the Apostles taught. The Bible tells us what they taught clearly and precisely. If we choose to discount the teachings of the Bible and not follow and preach them, and/or add to them we have become carried about with strange and divers doctrines. Everyone agreed, right.
Eph.4:14 "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive."
My Greek Interlinear (Interlinear Greek-English New Testament numerically coded to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance with a Greek-English Lexicon by George Berry and Strong's Greek Dictionary, published by Baker Book House, ISBN: 0-8010-5034-0) translates this passage as follows:
"that no longer we may be infants, being tossed and carried about by every wind of the teaching. in the sleight of men, in craftiness with a view to the systematizing of error."
Right here we have it all laid out for us, the systematizing of error. We are taught the ways of the false church system to such an extent we don't even know what a true biblical church operates like. Go slow, read on.
2Cor.11:13 - 15 " For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
Understand that satan comes to believers as a worker of the Lord Jesus Christ. Satan will come as a false disciple of Christ to deceive a Christian. True some cult leaders hold themselves out to be serving the Lord Jesus Christ but that doesn't fool the believers. To deceive the believers satan's workers come as Christian ministers preaching out of Bibles. Note, I didn't say they preach and/or follow the Word of God, I said they preach out of Bibles. They say they are Christian workers serving the Lord. With people that aren't believers he'll operate differently but this isn't our focus in this study.
1Tim.4:16 " Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."
Folks correct doctrine is extremely important, note the words "save thyself and those that hear thee." These are strong words. The Lord Jesus Christ has only one set of rules. All of his churches follow them the same way.
Eph.5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing."
The church is supposed to be subject to Christ in everything just like a wife to her husband.
John 14:21 " He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
And go to Eph.5: 27:
" That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
Look at it this way. The believers are subject to the rules that the Lord has set forth for us in the scriptures. These are contained in teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and his Apostles and are to be found in what we call the New Testament. If you see a person clearly breaking those rules on a steady, ongoing, long term basis, you have to consider that person as being not saved, even though that person may continually confess to being a Christian. Example: a person has homosexual sex on a steady basis. Now, a believer can't sit down with the Lord and say look Lord I want to have homosexual sex, it's not fair. I want to serve you and love you but you're just gonna have to let me be an actively practicing homosexual Christian. This doesn't work.
Let's take another example. A person likes praying to satan and worshipping satan and other unclean spirits. This person soon realizes after having demons cast from him or her that the Bible is true and gets worried about going to the lake of fire for eternity, yet is afraid of getting the unclean spirits mad. Let's for a minute also assume that satan didn't get this person to commit the unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (see Mark 3:29). I personally believe satan has his highly placed workers commit this sin as a protection for satan, which make me look very doubtfully on all those that testify they were satanic high priests/priestesses and so forth. This hypothetical person then says well I'll just worship the unclean spirits and the Lord at the same time, that way I'll have no enemies. The person then expresses his or her intents to the Lord and continues to worship the unclean spirits and the Lord Jesus Christ. The person says he or she is saved, said the sinners prayer, and worships and prays to the Lord Jesus Christ on a daily basis, etc. The Lord of course has guidelines and precepts that all believers must follow and if one doesn't, they aren't serving the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord even said if you love him you'll keep his commandments. It is the same for the churches. The difference is the church isn't an individual. We all know there are loads of people walking around saying they are believers and they aren't. Some think they are believers and some secretly worship satan and the unclean spirits which makes them false believers and false workers. God allows this to go on and he has his reasons.
At this point I have touched on the subject of eternal security unavoidably) and need to spend a minute on this subject, quoting scriptures of course. What the theologians say is of no importance to me, I go by the word of God.
Heb.6:4-6 " For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."
Let's also read 1Cor.9:27:
" But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
I don't want to get sidetracked here with a lengthily debate on eternal security. The Bible doesn't support a position of your salvation will never be taken from you regardless of what sins you commit. Paul also came out and said he could become a castaway, and he wrote much of the New Testament. If Paul thought he could become a castaway so should you! A Christian can commit a sin and ask forgiveness in Jesus name and repent and that is the end of it. We don't have a license to go into a life of repeated willful sin at will and still retain our salvation. It is a doctrine of devils to say that a Christian can go around sinning at will and never lose his or her salvation.
There are churches that say they are Christian but are not. Again God allows this to go on. I will tell you this, it is sinful for us to fellowship with those who say they are Christians and behave contrary to the scriptures. See 1Cor.5:11:
" But now I have written unto you not to keep company, If any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat"
and 1Tim 6:3-5 which focuses more on those teaching contrary to the word of God:
" If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."
Folks please note we are told by the Word of God to withdraw from such that teach in opposition to the Word of God, not to place ourselves under them as our spiritual leaders. Please also note this applies to all doctrines and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, not just to those teaching financial prosperity doctrines.
We also have read that a Christian who sins gets chastened by the Lord in 1Cor.11:32:
" But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."
Is it not sin that will bring about a chastening from the Lord. We also know that when we sin we are subject to satan's attacks. See 1Jn.5:18:
" We all know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."
And also see Rom.6:16:
" Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey , his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness".
Speaking for myself I don't want to yield myself to sin and death, do you? If you want to open yourself up to attacks from satan, receive chastenings from the Lord and serve death just keep on sinning and sin is sin including the scriptural prohibitions concerning fellowshipping with those who hold themselves out to be believers but behave wrong. This also applies if they are leading a so called church teaching and practicing in opposition to God's word. The sin of not withdrawing from those the Bible says to withdraw from and the sin of lying or stealing etc. are all still sins. Sin is sin.
As we go on I will develop these themes with a lot of scriptures showing you that satan has set up churches systematizing error to such an extent most of us don't even know how a true church should be operating, and thus keeping many believers in sin by them not withdrawing from those that they are told to withdraw from in the Bible. When we start to take teachings and practices of man and use them to cancel out the Bible or portions of it, we are in big trouble. Hear me out and let the scriptures speak.
Most of you always suspected something is amiss in these so called churches, so let the word of God speak and illuminate the errors and hopefully the oohs and aahhs will flow, God willing. Pray now, by yourself is great, for the truth regarding the church. Pray the Lord would remove all the camouflage of the enemy in every area of your life. Pray the Lord would remove all false doctrines from you. Pray the Lord would reveal to you the things you need to do to make yourself more pleasing to him. Pray the Lord would give you the strength and ability to deal with all these revelations. Fasten your seat belts, let's go do some spiritual cruisin and give satan a bruisin.
We have a new seal!
sabbaths,Feasts and cicumcision are NOT seals under the NEW Covernant
New testiment Says we are sealed with the Holy Spirit,NOW WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
wHEN A jEWISH BOY COME OF AGE he was circumcised which was a seal that he was a JEW
When we become B.A Christians we recieve the seal of the Holy Spirit that Shows we are Chritians
Now how is that seal applied?........The NT tells us not by the hands of man But BY THE CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART
Exciting hey Because we dont have to keep all those rules and regulations to recieve a Seal All we have to do is Accept the LOrd Jesus Christ as our savior.Repent of our Sins and In doing so The Holy Spirit Cicumcises OUR HEART
And by the working of the Holy Spirit We are empowered to Live the Life he Wants us to LIVE
Paul said HE(GOD) who started a good work in you will Perform,Perfect and Complete that work UNTIL HE RETURNS
And it s by GODsPower(...DynamiteDunimus)power that works in us both to WILL and TO DO HIS WORK
Hope that helps in this discussion
God Bless you All Trevor..from Australia
Are you saying that the Church is not going to be saved, and that JESUS was lying about His Church?
Trevor,
"Yashah's Church" will be saved. If one is actually apart of Yashah's Church, then guess what HIS Church will be obedient to? It's the Torah of our father Yehwah, because He decreed it through the mouth of the Prophet Jeremiah.
