Is The Trinity Biblical?
From the Christian Research Institute

The Trinity is a basic doctrine of orthodox Christianity. Yet the word "Trinity" is not found anywhere in the Bible. Is the doctrine of the Trinity really biblical?
The doctrine of the Trinity says that there is one All Mighty One (God) who exists eternally as three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I can assure you that the elements of this doctrine are all taken directly from the Bible.
The first plank of the Trinitarian platform is that there is only one All Mighty One (God). The Bible could not be more explicit on this point, which it states explicitly about two dozen times. In Isaiah 44:8 Yahweh (The LORD) says that even He does not know of any other (mighty ones)gods!
Yahshua (Jesus) often spoke of the All Mighty One (God) as His Father, and the apostles frequently spoke of "the Almighty One (God) the Father." But the New Testament also insists that Yahshua (Jesus) is The Almighty One (God). For example, Thomas acknowledged Yahshua (Jesus) as, "My Lord(master) and my Almighty One (God)" (John 20:28), and both Peter and Paul spoke of Yahshua (Jesus) as "our All Mighty One (God) and Savior" (2 Pet. 1:1; Tit. 2:13). Yet the New Testament also makes the distinction between the Father and the Son as two very different persons. In fact they tell us that they love one another, speak to each other, and seek to glorify each other (e.g., John 17: 1-26).
The Old Testament refers often to the Holy Spirit as The Almighty One (God) at work in the world, without distinction from the Father. But Yahshua (Jesus) in John 14 to 16 explained that this Holy Spirit would be sent by the Father at the Messiah’s (Christ's) request. The Holy Spirit would teach and guide the disciples, not speaking on His own initiative, but speaking on the Messiah’s 9Christ's) behalf and glorifying The messiah (Christ). Thus, the Holy Spirit is revealed by The Messiah (Christ) to be a third person distinct from the Father and distinct from the Son.
In short, the doctrine of the Trinity is completely and totally biblical, and it is essential that all the Followers of the Messiah Yahshua (Christians) give assent to this doctrine.

I'm wit you Luckett, this is one of the things I have heard that TD Jakes among others preach (and I could be wrong all you Jakes fans).
What if the fish was a carp? More bones than meat? LOL, and Jakes REALLY helped me early on in my walk so he a friend of mine!
Yes, he did. So is:

-Bishop Thomas Weeks III
-Bishop Noel Jones
-Bishop Charles Ellis III
-Bishop Iona Locke

and quite a few others.....
If what you are saying about Jakes teaching is true, then I can see your confusion on the Oneness belief.

I will take it a step further, within the Baptist belief there are those who teach that speaking in tongues is of the devil and those who believe and operate in tongues.

In the COGIC we were taught that drinking pepsi was a sin, yet other COGIC churches think that's absurd.

In some AME churches, dancing and shouting is an interruption to the service while at others they will cut a rug.

So, you see, my point is, everyone is all over the place with their beliefs. We are not under any denomination, but believe in the Apostles doctrine which happens to be Oneness. I don't even know if I like the term Oneness, but will use it for the sake of this discussion.

Our salvation is individual and we must work it our with fear and trembling. I think I will detach myself from man's philosophy and theology an continue as the Lord Leads.
Hi EW

Would you mind me asking what apostles are you speaking of, when you refer to their doctrine?

thank you

Caral
The twelve apostles of the bible and Paul who was later called by God.

Acts 2:38-42

38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

40. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Thank You EW

You missed the last verse though.

praising God and having favour with all the people, and the Lord was adding those being saved every day to the assembly.

If we go to the very beginning of the Hebrew Scriptures, how does oneness theology explain, Gen 1:26 The Ancient sages and rabbinic scholars have wrestled for eons over this verse.

Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" (Genesis 1:26)

Isaiah 6:8 is another: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"

Blessings
It is also a shame that the previous verses in the passage from Acts 2 was missed as this is more revelant to the apostles doctrine.

The LORD (YHWH) said to my Lord (Jesus),

Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’

36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Thus acknowledging Jesus Christ as the Holy One of Israel.
In verse 26, many have speculated that God was talking with his counsel of angels because when you look at verse 27 it says so God created man in his own image. HIS IMAGE NOT THEIR IMAGE.

Genesis 1:27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

In Isaiah Isaiah 6:8 the Lord said Whom shall I (singular) send
So would Jakes be a oneness pentecostal? Or has he broken off and started his own spin off like Bishop Morton?
Brother,

On your side note, that is not what Oneness believes. I have heard this from trinity however, if you go back through the discussion, I believe Trevor said that all 3 have 3 separate wills. This would mean that they are 3 separate Gods who can disagree with one another.

We believe that Our Father who is an all knowing God and an Omni-Presence God, knew that sin would enter into the world and thus, Jesus was the lamb slain before the earth was even created. That being said, The Father prepared a body in the likeness of sinful flesh begotten from himself. He didn't create Jesus but wrapped his own Spirit in the likeness of sinful flesh to enter into humanity and die for our sins. Now as for the holy ghost, after Christ died and was buried and resurrected he sent his spirit down to dwell in us. Once again showing the Spirit of God wrapped in flesh. Walk in the spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Jesus was wrapped in the likeness of sinful flesh and we are wrapped in sinful flesh, but the Holy Ghost enters to sanctify us.

OMNI-PRESENCE WOULD EXPLAIN HOW JESUS COULD BE ON THE CROSS DYING FOR OUR SINS IN THE FLESH, YET STILL BE IN HEAVEN WITHIN THE FATHER. THEY ARE ONE AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD IN US.
I am trying to brother Luckett. Pray for me.
