Sabbath or LORD's day

As we approach the Ressurection season we find that there are those that are still grappling with the day of the Sabbath and the LORD's Day. We have for centuries had this age long discussion, I contend that if Saturday is the 7th day of the week then it is the Sabbath and if Sunday is the 1st day of the week then it is the LORD's day. But I would that we not grapple with this issue much longer and know that the Psalmist is correct when he stated "This is the day that the LORD has made let us… Continue

The Error of Titles and Offices

The Error of Titles and Offices

(A very insightful article by a Christian author and conference speaker.)

The idea that apostles, prophets, evangelists, and shepherd/teachers are ministry titles is a post-Biblical invention. It is also an anti-Biblical invention! It is sad yet prevalent today to hear men and women wielding these Biblical words as personal titles. “Apostle Tommy and Prophet Wilma,” “Bishop Jaquanza,” “Pastor Rotunda,” and “Evangelist Billy-Bob” all… Continue

Truths Revealed In The Da Vinci Code

Historians still marvel at the brilliance with which Emperor Constantine converted the sun-worshipping pagans to Christianity. By fusing pagan symbols, dates, and rituals into the growing Christian tradition, he created a kind of hybrid religion that was acceptable to both parties.’

‘Transmogrification,’ Langdon said. ‘The vestiges of pagan religion in Christian symbology are undeniable. Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints. Pictograms of Isis nursing her… Continue

PRISON MINISTRY

THE MANDATE FOR PRISON MINISTRY

The mandate for prison ministry is clear in God’s Word, both by scripture and example.

SCRIPTURE:

The greatest scriptural mandate for prison ministry is given in Matthew 25:31-40. Jesus said:

. . .“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the… Continue

Do Churches in the Black Preaching Network have Children's Ministry?

After writing a subject matter on Children's Ministry in the African American church, another thought came to mind. I wonder how many black churches within a network of 5,000 churches or more have a children's ministry or children's church that is adequately ministering to the needs of the children who attend their churches each week?

Another question. I wonder how many of the Pastors are seriously interested in getting an understanding of why reaching the next generation is so… Continue

Anointed to Overcome Opposition

Opposition could be considered part of a packaged deal when committing to kingdom building for God. Knowing this up front can help prepare for the challenges you will face in your assignment.

Unfortunately, many leaders are unaware of this truth; they take on building projects like assembling a doll house using “easy to read” instructions and having numbered pieces to ensure accurate assembly. But even with simple instructions, some tasks are more difficult without essential tools… Continue

I Heard It Through The Spiritual Grapevine

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they will dump it on you. Do not take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Do not take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take… Continue

Why don't more Black Churches invest in Children's Ministry?

I've been a children's ministry consultant for more than thirteen years and I've noticed something, that Black Churches make very little to no investment in children's ministry. Why is that?

Malachi 3 is the Most Abused Text in the Bible.

The false teaching about tithes from Malachi 3 ignores several important Bible facts.

(1) Malachi is Old Covenant context and is never quoted in the New Covenant for the church. (2) In 1:6; 2:1 and 3:1-5, Malachi is addressed to dishonest priests who are cursed because they have stolen the best offerings from God. (3) The Levitical cities must be considered and Jerusalem was not a Levitical city. It makes no sense to teach that 100% of the tithe… Continue

This doctrine is simply too important to ignore!

. The doctrine of tithing, in many churches today, has reached the level of a modern scandal. While on the one hand, most seminary-level textbooks and church theologians omit tithing, on the other hand, the practice is quickly becoming a requirement for church membership in the very denominations who insist on solid Bible-based doctrines. There is also increasing evidence that lay persons who question the legitimacy of New Covenant tithing are… Continue

British Gov't plans to recognize Exorcism of demons as a therapy for treating mental illness

The British government plans to recognize exorcism of demons as a therapy for treating mental illness. An article by Jonathan Petre in London’s Sunday Telegraph. It is of particular interest to those of us involved in the healing prayer ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, as it impacts that part of our ministry which deals with deliverance from evil spirits. Clearly, this news represents a dramatic change in attitude toward the deliverance ministry in the United Kingdom and, hopefully, will lead… Continue

The Great Question- "Who's your covering?"

The great question- “ Who’s your covering?”

As a Christians and minister ,I have heard and even been questioned as to “ Who is my covering”?

This question as to “who is your covering?” has always bothered me, because it implies that I have need of someone (A PERSON) to tie my spiritual shoes and walk me through my ministerial journey. “I know off the bat” that some of you who are reading this are going to say “ it’s about accountability or submission” so because I know… Continue

WILL YOU LEAVE TO RECEIVE??

Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations and circumstances and are undecided on which way we should go next. Should we move on? Should we move forward? Should we stand where we are? Often, we choose to stay put when we KNOW we should be moving on! We tend to hold on to things when we know we should let go. We stop dead in our tracks when we should keep pressing on!

Sound familiar?

John 21:7

7) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved… Continue

A recession proof Blessing

The writer of Proverbs 10:22 will give us the calm assurance that those of us in the household of FAITH are not affected, effected nor impacted by the economy of this world. It states: The Blessings of the LORD it maketh rich, and addeth no sorrow with it. We that are not merely church goers but believers in the FAITH know and understand that we are not affected nor impacted by this worlds system of things that happen. I have heard people in the Church as of late as they lay hold… Continue

HAVE YOU CONFESSED??

When was the last time you confessed your sins?

CONFESSION OF SINS

Confession of sins takes various forms:

(1) To God alone,

(2) To one's neighbor when he has been wronged (Luke 17:4, James 5:23),

(3) To one's friend or advisor as the confession of David to Nathan (2 Samuel 12:13), and,

(4) To the entire congregation where sin has created a public scandal to the church.

The Bible clearly teaches that every known sin, of whatever nature, must… Continue

Psalm Sunday & Passion Week

Matthew 21:1-17; 24:3-25:46; 26:26-30; 36-56

The month of April is widely associated with Psalm Sunday, Passion Week, Good Friday and Easter or Resurrection Sunday as they relate to Jesus Christ.

While reflecting on each event, let’s ask ourselves what does each event mean to me? Are we reflecting with heart felt compassion and adoration for what Christ did for all humanity? As we celebrate Psalm Sunday is it with the full understanding that Jesus entry into Jerusalem was… Continue
